Many people have mixed ideas on cell phone use in schools. Some say that they are distraction and disrupt class. While some of these claim are true, it is only because of the occasional misuse by some students. In reality cell phones have a wide range of beneficial use in the school setting. Phones can be used to communicate with parents, teachers can use cell phones in assignments for access to the internet, plus phones can be used during down time to occupy students. There are many favorable uses for cell phones, and they shouldn't be banned from school. If there is an emergency where the parent needs to get in touch with the student, the student will be able to respond to their parent in dire situations. This also works in vise versa. Say if the student forgot something, like an assignment, books, work out clothes, etc, the student will then be able to communicate with their parent that they left one of these items at the house and ask them to bring it to them. What ever needs to be communicated to the student at school can be via cell phone. This is just one prominent reasons that cell phones should not be banned from school. …show more content…
Instead of hauling everyone to the computer lab to look up research for a paper, students can just pull out their cell phones and scour the internet with their cell phones. This would save time on the teachers part, because they would not have to schedule an appointment for their class to go to the computer lab. It also saves valuable class time because the teacher does not have to waste time bringing kids to and from the classroom, the students just have to pull out their cell phones. It takes no time at all, so the kids have more time to work on the assignments.Yet again a miraculous example as to why cell phone should not be banned from
The first main reason that cell phones shouldn’t be allowed at school is because of the distraction
Teachers and students have long been at war over the various issues concerning cell phones. Many teachers say that cell phones ringing, vibrating and making other noise disrupt a class, though in fact, many teachers’ complaints could be rendered null and void if students were allowed to use cell phones. Usage of phones out of class, in lunch and in the hallways should be allowed, as well as in the class, but at the teacher’s discretion for the student to use for their education, safety, and for their social interaction.
Have you ever wondered why schools never let you have your phone out? Well, did you know that more fifty percent of the world uses their phones for unacceptable purposes? Schools are for students to learn how to do math, read and learn about the world's history. Phones shouldn't be used to do work that was mint for the schoolchild to do because that way the schoolchildren won't learn anything. Schools shouldn't let students have their phones out because they can use it to cheat, cyber-bulling, and texting in class.
Mobile phones seem to be everywhere now and the devices, which were once a luxury for indulgent grown ups, are now in the hands of many kids and teenagers (Austin, 2012). Basically now all students own modern cellphones, and it is typically to see them burried with their cellphones or listening to music through headphones, not just in schools, but everywhere and at anytime. Some people may want to ban cell phones from classrooms, but some believe that this is a new time in education and with dwindling budgets, so we need to rethink possibilities, stretching every dollar (htt2). The positive aspects of the usage of cell phones in school cannot overcome the very basic disadvatage, which is that cellphones distract students from schoolwork and activities leading them to have bad perfromance at school.
Cell phones are really good they can be used in many good ways like using it for an emergency, or having a easier way to do work. They can be used in a bad way such as sending emails during class or like I said using social media during class. Cells phones are a good way to contact your parent if you forgot something that you needed for PE or LA. Cell Phones are totally appropriate in schools. There are so many good ways phones can be used everybody always is focusing on the bad ways.
Cell phones should be prohibited in high school classrooms because they cause many different disruptions, enable cheating, and facilitate Cyber bullying.
All together Cellphones in school is beneficial, yet not at the same
The purpose of college is to provide students with a positive learning environment. Although many colleges have a rule, perhaps colleges should ban the use of cell phones in college classrooms for three reasons. Keeping cell phones in college classrooms allows students to use it for non-educational purposes. Cell phones are also easily lost, stolen or broken and may end up in the wrong hands of an irresponsible student or could be a classroom distraction. The prevalence of cell phone use in the classroom has become a distraction to other students and faculty, and is considered impolite, and should be prohibited from use in college classrooms.
But this is why cell phones should be allowed in school. According to Ken Royal he believes that cell phones should belong in school. “I know all the reasons not to use cell phones—from radiation to thumb injuries—but computer lab electromagnetic field readings and carpal tunnel haven't stopped more traditional computing, either.” (Royal Par.
There is no real "problem" with cell-phones in themselves. Students just need to learn, and remember, that there is a time and a place for everything. A cell-phone should generally not be used in class, unless perhaps somebody is standing at the front of the room with a gun, or if there was some other calamity, such as: kids making bomb threats and what not - for these reasons I find it completely reasonable for a child to be permitted to be equipped with a powered "ON" cellular device. I don't know about you, but if I have kids one day who are potentially in danger, I would want to be aware of this at once.
The part of society that is against the use of cell phones in school do it because of the interference that a cell phone can cause. Nevertheless we must accept that we live in a world full of technology. We miss out if we do not take the upper hand of the educational power of the cell phone. Overall, cell phones supply us with learning resources and encourage suitable use of technology. Therefore the schools should not ban cell the use of cell phones on school grounds.
Cell phones are small and portable yet provide so much to its user with being able to look up anything to calling your parents in case of an emergency or if you need to give them a heads up on something. With the way things are today people need to focus on incorporating cell phones into daily life and finding ways to make them more suitable in a classroom environment. Teachers are already doing this though with using apps that work with the whole class and can track data and usage of a student. It cannot be debated that cell phones are beneficial in school as before cell phones you would have to go to your local library and hopefully find what you are looking for. Cell phones belong in a school environment as they can be helpful and it 's a parent 's right to be able to get ahold of their
Schools should allow cell phones in schools for children's protection and safety. Secondly, cell phones can keep you connected with your buddies. Instead of screaming, and yelling in the halls to ask your buddy for books, you can simply call them on your cell phone. Some students ask themselves, "If teachers are allowed to use cell phones in class?"... ...
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones regard the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves a sense of security.
