Intro - Prue Gilbert who is a human rights lawyer from Melbourne once stated in an article; “Last year I was driving my then five year old son to a birthday party, and we inevitably started talking about his own upcoming birthday party. A football party, Dad can be umpire, Ned can be captain and we can all eat hotdogs” Then is next comment stopped me. “and all the girls can be the crowd”
If a five year old boy already thinks that girls “don’t play footy” Where are we going wrong? And what are we teaching our children?

Good morning fellow AFL committee leaders, I am going to talk about why the new AFL womens competition will represent an advance for women's sport. Some arguments for this are:

Argument 2 - As the womens competition grows, more and more women will participate as coaches and administrators.
Those who support the new womens AFL will argue that as the competition progresses, women will now be more involved in coaching and administrating within the competition.

This competition will encourage females to love and be involved in the sport just as much as the boys are. Collingwood’s operation manager, Meg Hutchins said “We want to help develop women coaches and help then reach their potential.”
Facts show thats football is one of the top ten sports females play and about 151,000 of them play football every week.

Currently most of AFLs coaches and administrators have been all male, women need to show what they are also capable of doing, and doing what they enjoy.
Having women coaching and administrating will help the AFLs womens league to grow and get more supporters over the next upcoming years.
