Why Should Students Attend Carl Sandburg College?
Education is very important in our current society. A college is a place where students can gain access to additional education and knowledge. For people who have already finished high school, one of the choices they will have to make is whether to continue onto higher education, which means going to college or university, or to start working and planning their life right away. These are some of the many reasons other students and myself attend Carl Sandburg College. The first reason why anyone would consider going college is to to get a higher level of education. Majority have studied and learned a lot at school, but that just the general knowledge that anyone should have. If students want to increase their knowledge, especially the professional knowledge for a particular job or a specialist field of work, a college or university would be an appropriate place. The The reason that students should pick this college is that located close to campus buildings, so they can easily get to it. Studying and living near college can be affordable for some individuals. Students can always choose to live in near apartments near college. Another reason is the affordable pricing to attend it. This means many students who could not afford a 4-year university they would pay the tuition and still receive the same education. Also, like other universities Carl Sandburg College, offers financial aid and loans to students. Basically for the same cost of a four-year school Carl Sandburg offers the same education at a much lower cost. Studying and living near college can be affordable for some individuals. Universities can be expensive, especially if the school is out of state or in current residency. Attending a community college to save money is a smart option for students.
The three main reasons are economic, political and obtaining new ideas. Attending colleges today will produce future leaders for tomorrow. College should not be just for the rich and the privilege, but for the students with the desire and will. It is a place where hope, dreams and goals can be fulfilled. It provides hope to the students from low income families. College is a place where diversity is not only welcome but embraced. More opportunities will be opened, without a higher education a student can be stuck just getting by in life. College matters because its help the student become the best person he/she can
However on the other side of the spectrum college does have its benefits. A college places its students in real life settings away from home. It lets the students begin making decisions that they will deal with for their entire life.
The main reason that people choose to go away for college is to move away from home. Some main pros are you are completely on your own and it forces you to be dependent on yourself, causing you to become independent and prepare you for the real world. Another pro is that you get to meet new and different people. College is all about meeting new people and getting the chance to make new friends. Lastly, by expanding your environment, you get to view the world differently by meeting a diverse group of people. (Mosley). Why do people choose a college? People ask themselves this question all the time. They wonder if college is something they need or don’t need. People think college won’t help them in the future, but in the long run it will. College helps people in many ways though. Some ways college can help us now in days is to get better jobs, extra money and getting the experience of seeing what college is like. As I researched on college and why people try to go. It was interesting to understand all there is now in days to learn when you’re there. College isn’t always a harmful idea to think about going into either. People think its easier now in days to just get a job and live a little. College at least would give you an idea of your talents and strengths in life at least. Hopefully, throughout the rest of my research I find out some additional reasons why people choose a college.
Why should a student attend an HBCU, some may ask. Those considering attending college should attend an HBCU no matter what their race or ethnicity may be. Many people think HBCUs are only African American colleges due to what the acronym stands for, Historically Black Colleges and Universities. According to CollegeXpress, “HBCUs do primarily serve African American students, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to have a limited cultural experience. On the contrary, people from all over the world come to the United States to attend HBCUs, which results in diverse student bodies.”(1) Anyone can attend and sometimes when an individual is not black and decides to attend an HBCU, scholarships are given because they want to show that they are willing to accept anyone, regardless of their race. Some HBCUs that are listed as being the best are: Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College, but they are just a few of many out there to attend. There are also several famous people who attended HBCUs: Jesse Jackson, Wanda Sykes, Samuel Jackson, Toni Morrison, and Oprah Winfrey. Many students that have attended an HBCU love the friendly environment, the diversity, and the knowledge gained. If a student is not financially stable, the HBCU is willing to work out payment arrangements and help out in an effort for the student to receive the education that they deserve. It appears that a large portion of those that attend Virginia Union University came because of the cultural experience or because someone in their family attended and they want to continue the legacy. Imagine a young man who has nearly graduated from high school. His life should be full of hope and promise of a bright future, but he has no idea in which direction he desires to head. Picture a single mom who recently went through a divorce, she didn’t imagine she ever needed to worry for her financial future again. What about the students who excel in their studies of choice, but struggle with the subjects foreign to them? Community college can assist in overcoming those obstacles. The benefits of attending a community college include easier transitions, helping recent high school graduates transition to a 4-year college, and smaller class sizes.
Ever had the thought of going to college? Many people attend college yearly to have a higher chance of becoming successful in life. Everyone has a different view of college, some thinks that college is a waste of time and some thinks that college is very valuable. Most jobs now days requires at least some college, without college people might not be able to get the job that they dream for.
