Recommended: Why athletes are overpaid

Has it ever crossed your mind what you would like to do in the near future? What was your reasoning for choosing this occupation? Most people choose a career because of the high wages and benefits that come with being an employee. Do you ever feel like one job deserves higher wages than another? I believe that entertainers and athletes should not be given high salaries. The reason why I think they should be given low salaries is because they don’t risk their lives while working, and an entertainer is not as important as lifesaving employees. One of the reasons I believe entertainers shouldn’t be given high salaries is because their jobs aren’t an endangerment to their lives. Soldiers and policemen risk their lives every day to protect the people of our nation. The wages they are paid do not compare to their sacrifices, whereas an entertainer, may receive up to several millions of dollars for a single performance. I would much rather see a man of high honor receive several millions of dollars in a year than a man who helps raise the bills on our televisions. …show more content…

We would all be able to live a healthy life without actors, comedians, sports teams, and reality stars. These men and women deserve payment but shouldn’t receive more than lifesaving employees. We need to be able to know these people have the money they need to help provide us with our necessities. Medicine, food, homes, and the feeling of security are what these men and women help provide. They deserve more money because their jobs help us acquire the essentials for a healthy lifestyle. Within recent years the question of weather NCAA athletes should be paid or not has arisen and caused them some unwanted attention. Many coaches and sports enthusiast have been interviewed on their opinion. “Students are not professional athletes who are paid salaries and incentives for a career in sports. They are students receiving access to a college education through their participation in sports, for which they earn scholarships to pay tuition, fees, room and board, and other allowable expenses,” (Mitchell). “There has been major discussion recently if college athletes should or shouldn't be paid while they are in school. The first thing opponents say is, "They're already getting a scholarship! That is more than anybody else! Don't be greedy!”(Hartnett). These are just two men’s opinions, but no one needs to give his or her opinion any longer. The answer to this question is unmistakably clear. NCAA athletes do not need to be paid because they get to go to college for free, their living expenses are paid for, and there would not be a fair way to choose which teams are paid and which are not.

Athletes are not the problem in today’s economy; the problem is currently America’s physicians. The focus should be put more specifically on physicians and not professional athletes because we need physicians to survive; while athletes are a source of entertainment. Although an athlete’s salary is surprising large, athletes willing do what they love because of their fan base and all of the people that support them throughout their career. Physicians lost the focus that was once on their patients, and are now concentrating more on how they can supplement their money, which is selfishly putting them above all people. Having a doctor who is unfocused is threatening to all patients, who may or may not know what it actually going in behind closed doors.
