Ever since I started understanding things and as I processed maturity, I grasped that the human body is an incredible thing and it has always come to my mind that how it works and responds to things is very fascinating. My decision to work in a medical field came from several experiences throughout my life. Science has been my primary interest since I started school. When I was in elementary and middle school I was always one of the final competitors in science timed tests, oral science quizzes, etc. I have always enjoyed the competition amongst associates and enjoyed the challenge of school work. While I was there, I never got a chance to participate in volunteer work or work with anyone in the hospitals or any kind of senior living centers. However, when I started high school here, I got a chance to shadow a registered nurse, which helped me get an idea of how a medical work place is totally different here than it is in India. In addition, I volunteered in the Emergency Department for couple hours, which was totally a different experience. I have worked in a pharmacy department for quite some time as well, so I have some knowledge of different medications too. Currently I am working at a Senior Living Center as a resident assistant. I love my job as it allows me to take care and provide service to elders, help them during their last days. Additionally, I shadowed Shawna Lynn Perry. She is a wonderful physician assistant at the Scranton Orthopedics Center. I have learned a lot from shadowing an actual physician assistant. I observed how a PA interacts with the patients and also with the doctors and how they initially perform examinations. A day as a PA is a busy day and to be an effective PA it takes more than being well informed in medicine. It takes being perceptive, friendly and having good social communicating
