High school need to focus on skills for students to follow through based on their passion and interest. There are substantial college graduates who are unhappy with the degree they invested so much time on top of the money for a career that some did not even utilized. This occurs when high school students was not really sure in what they needed to accomplish and unaware of which direction career wise to choose from. Following the students passion early on the educational background such as college will prevent wasted money and time and ultimately produce a happier adult. Numerous of adults who are successful at work are not entirely satisfied especially when that certain aspect of way of living does not necessarily results in spiritual balance. High school students need to be taught on skills that will be beneficial towards the betterment of livelihood in addition to having a well-balance emotional state. Many students take their high school years for granted and do not always pull off the best grades. But then when they get to college, or a higher degree of education than high school they start to straighten up. The reason being is because after high school everyone can choose what it is they want to spend the rest of their life doing. The classes they take, are of interest to them rather than all of the required ones in high school. For this reason I feel that students are more likely to take college seriously and not just because of the money.

Society pushes today's youth towards higher education. The goal of grade school is to prepare the students for middle school. The goal of middle school is to prepare the students for high school. And finally the goal of high school is to prepare the students for college. The entire structure of education is to prepare youth for the next level of education. However, the question that does stand is if a college education is right for every high school student. There are different types of high school graduates in America: some seniors already know what they are aiming for the future and some others wish not to know, while several others care less about their future – even if they are going to graduate in a couple of days. Few from the ones who are planning to go to college are just going to figure out themselves. Why go to college when you are just trying to figure out yourselves? Why should you not just take a year off for that? Taking a year off to refresh the brain would really help the students to decide on their future life. Charles Murray, the author of “What’s Wrong With Vocational School?” discusses how too many of today’s high school graduates wrongfully head off to a four-year college. For a large majority of the population, a college education is unnecessary. Murray says that a lot of students don’t even want an advanced education. Even if they do want an education, they aren’t qualified for it. Additionally, a large number of these students are striving for an education or experience that a four-year college isn’t meant to fulfill.
