Having trouble deciding if college is worth it? If so, then yes, college is very much worth it. College can open up so many doors for one in the future. It also teaches one how to socialize and function in the real world. It might even enlarge one’s paycheck later down the line. One might even be closer to their future family because of college. A college education is valuable because one will have more job opportunities, greater wealth, and will be more educated. To begin with, a college education will help one get a job easier. According to the article“New School Year, Old Story: Education Pays” “...at 2.4%, the unemployment rate for workers with a professional degree was also the lowest of education level.” Employers will want to hire college graduates more. For example, if an employer sees that one has a college degree but also sees that a high school graduate is applying for the same job then he will be more likely to choose the college graduate because the college graduate probably has more experience. Also according to the article “Why College Isn’t for Everyone” “...college graduates on average are smarter and have better work habits than high school graduates.” If someone is smarter then it will be more likely for that someone to obtain a advanced job and if they have better work habits then it …show more content…
In the video “Five Ways Ed Pays” they say “ college graduates will earn an average of twenty two thousand dollars more per year than a high school graduate.” If one makes this much more money per year than a high school graduate they will have more extra money to spend on fun things like, video games, sports gear, clothes etc. “...College graduates earn more, and are more likely to have jobs…”(Rotherham). After college one will find a job easier. More than likely that job will pay more than if you had just a high school degree. That means one will be more financially
Is college worth it? This is a topic that has been heavily debated for years, and years to come. The late nights, stressful debts, and long papers due- not accepted a second late; does that make up for the amazing memories, high paying jobs, and social connections? Absolutely. The experience college can give is remarkable. College is a valuable experience because individuals who attend will have a lower chance of being unemployed, will be in better health, and paying off debts will be possible!
After reading “College Isn’t For Everyone”, I pondered various thoughts. Some of which agree with the author. However, others may disagree with the options stated by the author. For example, I do believe that not all high school students need to attend college. Plenty of options are available such as a trade school or the military. However, I do agree that thinking about college is important. Even if not an opinion that agrees with someone, one should consider all options before making a final choice.
There is a graph that was published in the article “Value of a College Degree” and it does a phenomenal job showing the difference between having a high school degree compared to having some sort of college education. Although it shows that the average person who gets a bachelors in college tends to make about 500 dollars more than someone that only has a high school diploma, it also shows that the unemployment rate for people with a bachelors degree is about half that of someone with only a high school diploma
College is worth it because it is very helpful in life. It might be expensive but it all pays back once you graduate. College will help find a good job you will enjoy and that pays good money. People who don’t go to college will probably find a job they won’t like at all. College is worth the cost because it will give you a better life and career. In the article, “ College Is Worth The Cost,” Brooks C.Holtom states, “ That a college education dramatically increases the probability of finding a job you will enjoy ”. Basicly, Brooks C. Holtom is saying going to college even for a couple of years will help you earn a degree that will help you in the future. That degree can help you in the future get a job you will like and a job that pays good money.College is worth the cost because you will earn a degree and that degree will make your life and job
College graduates work more to improve their interpersonal skills, which make them more successful than others. An interpersonal skill is a great quality to have in a person since they are able to communicate or get along with a different group of people quite well. Being able to communicate with those who are difficult for high school students to communicate with, open opportunities for bigger business. Employers seek for workers with these types of skills since they are less likely to "scare the customer
People with a college degree tend to make more money than those who didn’t attend college. This is because most of the jobs that have a higher earning require a college degree. People that only get their school diploma don’t make as much money as someone with a college degree. A study done suggest that people who have a college degree are more likely to get hired because they have an education compared to those who don’t. According to the United States Bureau people who achieved the current degrees earned the following median salaries. People with a doctorate degree earn $100,000 or more. With a bachelor’s degree people earn $58,000 and people with an associates earn $42,000 or more(Lucier). A High School diploma is not worth as much as a college degree. A High school diploma means less today because of the shaping of the world. People who only have a high school diploma earn only about $33,000. These numbers also depend on the type of field that you are going into. For example, people that have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or management will earn a little bit more (Lynn). They will earn more because these fields are really important. In my opinion the United States has been transformed
I have been asked the question if college is worth going to. Personally I do not think it is worth it.Their are many jobs that you can take that don’t include a college degree. For example you can be a Dental Hygienist ,Stenographer-Court Reporter , or even a Home Health Aid.there are so many more jobs like this that can give someone a great life.
Honestly college at this certain point in time does not seem worth it. Everywhere else in the world college is free but the United States. People would feel more motivated to go to college if it was free. College is the main reason Americans are having to live such a hard lifestyle. My father did not go to college and makes eighteen dollars an hour. On the other hand my aunt did go to college and make twenty-four dollars an hour but is still paying back student loans so after paying all of her stuff back she only makes around fifteen dollars an hour that she gets to bring back and that doesn’t include taxes. That’s the reason college doesn’t seem like a good choice to make in life.
Going to college is hard but worth it because all your work will pay off when you get a good and better job you want. These are reasons to tell you why college is worth it. College is good for you because it helps you get a better job, if you graduate you get lifetime earnings, and it is good because college is becoming more important in America today.
Students who have to pay and work hard for their college will appreciate it more, college should not be free! There will not be enough money, students may get into the wrong crowd, and if they didn’t go to college, they wouldn’t have to waste their time, the teacher’s time, and everyone’s money. So the next time you get something easily, maybe you should think about how and why it came to you so easily, appreciate the things you have because nothing in life is free.
First, college degree graduates have better opportunities in finding a high wage job. “Graduates enjoy increased opportunities for employment at higher rates of pay, providing them with the wherewithal to pay off debt, if they are wise stewards of that debt.” (Smith, 29) People with college degrees have higher chances of being successful in the future because employers would rather employ those who holds a college degree. However, although there are some people who did not attend college find jobs that can help satisfy and support their lives, they cannot compare the earnings of college graduates who holds a degree. My cousin, holding a Bachelor’s degree of Business Management, graduated 5 years ago from College. At first, College education can guarantee the success of her goals, but because of her persistence, she is now a successful businesswoman. She has now a full-time job that can support her family and has already built her own home. With this means, having a college degree helps a person not only achieve their own goals but also being independent. “Realistically, having a college degree will likely mean a com...
Attending college is worth it. Students who get a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for many years but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They get more work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is so small compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
After finishing college you can be ahead of your colleagues. Your qualification will determine your position in the company you work in, also will increase your anual salary. “College graduates earn more, and are more likely to have a job in the first place” (Rotherham 79). Unemployment is a serious issue in the U.S. This topic is brought countless amount of times. Unemployment rates for people with college degrees are far less than a person with only a high school diploma. Also the chances of someone getting laid off is also far less likely versus someone with a high school diploma. In the article “Why college isnt for everyone” by Richard Vedder the author mentions “A person who compares the annual earning of college and high school graduates would no doubt conclude that higher education is a good investment” (Vedder
Is College Worth It? Everybody tells you to go to college. They say that college is necessary to lead a successful life. Authors like Anthony J. Rotherham and Kelci Lynn Lucier agree in their articles that getting a college education is worth it.
In recent discussions of college, a controversial issue has been whether or not college is for everyone. In their report Should Everyone Go to College, Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill state, “For certain schools, majors, occupations, and individuals, college may not be a smart investment” (Brookings).I agree with this statement, college is not for everyone. There are various factors that can contribute to college not being the best move for someone. The factors one has to consider includes ongoing debt, there are other options besides college, and is your college experience going to be beneficial for you in more than one aspect of your life. While college is not for everyone, I decided to attend a four year university because “for generations, in many parts of this country, it was illegal for black people to get an education”(Obama).
