Why College Athletes Should Be Paid

Team sports like soccer or basketball and individual sports are extremely popular worldwide. Famous sportsmen and sportswomen have statutes similar to Hollywood celebrities, and their wages are high. However, no matter how well they play, all of them have once been amateurs; in that way, college athletes don’t have much difference from professionals. At the same time, the NCAA prohibits college athletes to be compensated monetarily for their effort, which is definitely unfair. A multitude of reasons can be listed for paying college athletes. College athletes should get paid as they put time and effort into the games, can create a sense of financial management from early age and can attract more talent. First of all, college athletes put large amount of time and effort of hours plus studying into the games and the NCAA accumulates tons of revenue annually, so supporting college athletes would not be a problem. Besides, colleges see these as children who can't handle money, but paying them can create a early age understanding of financial management and lastly, many college athletes prefer to start earning real money with their skills rather than just putting their minds into something which benefits them in anyway, and thus paying them can always attract more useful talents. Paying college athletes resembles paying someone who work tirelessly for the improvements of their company.It is high time we start addressing this problem and raise our voices in unity for the injustice the college athletes …show more content…
