The Importance of Gun Control
The violence in today’s world, has become ordinary and common. This violence causes a staggering number of deaths and injuries throughout the world. The main weapon used to engage in violence is the gun. Today gun violence is considered one of the huge and concerning problem in the United States of America. The life of many individuals, adult, and young youths are in danger, especially the life of students. Teens and children are getting hurt or being killed with guns. Now one feels safe to go to school. The parents are worried about their children, and they want to find a way to solve this problem. Therefore, we as a student decided to research about gun control and investigate further about it.
American’s Views of Guns and Gun Ownership
Americans have a long and a complex relationship with guns. A point of pride for some and a source of fear for others. Gun continue to shape sharp debates in United States of America. According to the book “Living with Guns” by Craig R. about four in ten Americans say they either won a gun themselves or live in a household with guns. Also, 48% say they grew up in a household with guns. Furthermore, at least two-thirds of adults say they’ve …show more content…

Majorities of gun owners who live in cities, suburbs and rural areas say protection is a major reason they won firearms. However, owners who live in rural areas are significantly more likely to cite hunting as a major reason for owning a gun. While gun owners and non-gun owners have significant differences in views about gun policy, they agree in some areas. Based on “Living with Guns” for example, larger majorities of both groups favor restricting access to guns for individuals with mental illness and those who are on federal watch list.
