Britain’s victory in the Seven Years’ War had a variety of consequences, both positive and negative. During the Seven Years’ War Britain was initially fighting France, but then it turned into something far greater when Prussia, Austria, and many other countries got involved. This war seemed to be successful for Britain because it didn’t seem that they suffered any losses. Britain had signed a defensive treaty with Prussia before the war started. Prussia attempted to invade Austria because France had a foreign policy against Austria, but France decided to aid Austria in its time of need. Even though they controlled much of India they didn’t directly interfere with government decisions because commercial affected many political decisions. Britain did attempt to keep William Carey from preaching in India because they were afraid of causing unsettled feelings within the Hindu and Muslim groups, thus harming business and profit. Ironically what they tried to avoid with William Britain inadvertently did themselves by pushing Western culture on the Indian people and expanding the company too far. Britain’s victory in the Seven Years’ War affected many nations and peoples. The land that they earned from France included Canada, and even today Canada has ties with Great Britain. Britain became a world power due to the land they received at the end of the war, and to this day Britain is still a world power. Britain even made Florida a colony soon after gaining the territory from Spain. There were many outcomes of Britain’s victory in the Seven Years’ War. Some outcomes were good for Britain such as: gaining a lot of territory, strengthening hold on commercial trade in India, becoming a world power, and becoming the leading power in Europe. There were also some drawbacks including the unrest caused in India by the British East Indian Company and risk of one country owning a great deal of land. What do you think about
