Robert Edward Lee came from a great line of war heroes, immediately prepping him for the title of “military greatness”. Lee graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1829, second in his class. Later, in 1831, he married his wife Anna Randolph Custis who was a descendant of political background.
Lee served seventeen years in the Corps of Engineers for seventeen years. He supervised and inspected the nation’s defense groups. In 1846, he himself served his first time in a war. His gallantry in this war against Mexico earned him three brevets. Thus, emitting him from the war with the title ‘Colonel’.
