They see someone that they are not accustomed to and assume that they are inferior based on their color. Racial discrimination is almost a cycle that has to happen in order for it to come out with justice and equality. The sad truth thus far is that every ethnic group has gone through it. Unfortunately, in time discrimination hit them forcing them to move to their own communities like “Chinatown” and “Little Tokyo.” Their careers gradually shifted from farming to urban jobs since they were constantly being kicked out. Racial discrimination that they encountered was for how they looked. They were a lot more different than what the Anglos had already experienced. Racial discrimination hit especially hard when immigration was at its peak. There were so many people coming over that the government had to stop the immigration. They feared that the “Japs” or “Chinks” would take over their jobs and change their way of life. For the Japanese and Chinese, their way to combat racial discrimination was a lot different than the Native Americans, African Americans, and Mexican Americans. The Asian Pacific Americans had no means of using the political system or violence. They did try to use the legal system for their right to become a citizen but that failed miserably.
