In the Bible they talk about wells and how they are used. Wells was a source of water for the cities/towns, the travelers that pass through, and is very important to the livestock life as well. Wells also are a place where you can rest and water your herd at. I would like to focus the well on how they were important to the Bible and how it is important to us today. Wells help sustain life in the Bible and was a meeting place for some of the people. In the Biblical times, they didn’t get much rainfall so the importance of having a well is life or death. Wells would be the focus to have a village or town around to make sure that humans and animals have water. I would like to focus about how Genesis talks about wells and how significant they really are in these times. Then I will compare the Old Testament to the New Testament and how they are similar. Jesus is thirsty and asked for for a drink by a woman that is from Samaritan. “The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of me, a woman Samaritans.” In this verse the woman is questioning this man that is asking her to do because the Jews and Samaritans are two different people. Samaritans are uncleaned and considered heretics and sinners. Jesus asked her to give him water and he said that God would give her “living water”. Living water is the Holy Spirit and the water of Baptism, which means that she would get to have a long happy life rather than her life as a Samaritan.
