Abortion is morally permissible because there is a distinction between human in the sense of biology versus human in the sense of belonging to the Moral community and possessing moral rights. Kant provides that in order for an individual to possess a sense of morality, it is essential for the individual to be a rational agent. Warren’s account of abortion provides that it is morally permissible at any stage of pregnancy, regardless of circumstances for wanting an abortion. Warren examines the anti-abortion argument that follows as: (1) it is wrong to kill innocent human beings, (2) fetuses are innocent human beings, therefore (3) it is wrong to kill fetuses (Arthur and Scalet, 277).
