As life progresses, people understand themselves, realize their capabilities and boundaries, and discover who they are as a whole, as an individual. In the poem, “O me, O life” Walt Whitman addresses the question of the point and meaning of life; in response, “life” answers that the meaning of life is that we are here, we exist, and contain identity; we will contribute a verse in the powerful play called life, whether that verse is extremely impactful or unnoticeable. In the movie, “Dead Poets Society” Mr. Keating, the English teacher, encourages the boys to contribute something to life, to impact life in some way rather than sitting in a corner and doing nothing. As time has passed and my wisdom and knowledge of the world has grown, my verse has changed multiple times; however now, graduating middle school and entering high school, my verse, what my contribution will be, is clearer than any crystal available on this Earth. Being a young Armenian, protesting and fighting for belief has become a second nature, and my goal, rather my verse, is to support and provide aid to my homeland, which is bound to me both spiritually and physically, Armenia. My verse is to provide voices and to give all Armenians, both rich and poor, a say in all matters and to mend the corrupt government, which has plagued Armenia for decades.
