Yadhira Ceja Writing 122 March 5th, 2024 Final Essay I believe that everyone should have access to healthcare and along with that it should be free. Healthcare should be universal, it is a basic human necessity. If everyone had access to healthcare, it would bring people happiness and love when their loved ones get the help they need or get a second chance after they are very sick. I believe that universal healthcare is a basic human right that everyone deserves, no matter what. Nobody deserves to be sick and not live simply because they don't have enough money or don't have access to the help that they need. Then they or their loved ones get sick and they have to pay for healthcare with the little money that they have and that leads to them going into extreme poverty. I also believe that universal health care will improve health outcomes. In 2020 when COVID-19 was at its peak many people died because they didn't have access to healthcare. There has been lots of research done on this topic as well. During the pandemic, millions of people lost their jobs and of course that led to them not having money, which leads to not being able to afford healthcare any longer. There were over 3 million deaths and so many of those could have been prevented if everyone had access to healthcare, no matter how much money they have. Universal healthcare would even lead to more appropriate hospital visits and would limit the amount of non-emergency, emergency room visits. Universal healthcare would solve many problems all around the world. So many lives would be saved and people wouldn't have to make the choice between paying for healthcare or buying themselves and their family food. This is a problem that isn't talked about enough, and there isn't as much research on it as there should
