Universal Healthcare A topic now trending all over social media is healthcare. Whether people state the pros or cons of it it is an important factor especially this year since it is election year for the presidential position. There is many perspectives on healthcare either by gender, race, nationality, age, and/or class. Some americans believe healthcare should be an option, while others it should be required like it is now. Having said that all americans will never agree on this topic or any topic. Throughout this paper both the pro and con on having or not having required healthcare will be discussed but the views will come from a female who disagrees on having a healthcare requirement. Healthcare is essential for modern life with all chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and respiratory disease. One of the pros according to Ireland (2013) is that having required healthcare, medical costs would be reduced and would not be as high cost like some of the tests doctors run (Ireland, 2013). Another pro of having the universal healthcare also said by Ireland (2013), it would extend healthcare to all american citizens which would increase the lifespan (Ireland 2013). A con presented by Ireland (2013), is taxes would be increased due to the “free” healthcare and those who were unemployed would not have to pay which would not be fair towards the taxpayers (Ireland 2013). Ireland (2013) states that there would also be longer waits (Ireland 2013). If the waits are already long imagine waiting even longer which could possibly cause more deaths. Advise America (2016) says some people would take advantage of the system and go to doctor more than usual which would cause shortages in doctors and nurses (Advise America, 2016).
