My story exploited the themes of: the role of violence in society; the consequences of irresponsible or rash actions; and the consequences of hate which were clearly exhibited in Act 3 Scene 1. I chose to convey these themes through the modern context of social media and an online world. I made this decision because it is more relatable for teenagers and it is a common form of violence in society that can harm people physically, emotionally and mentally but is often left out on the list. I changed the gender of the characters from the play and also altered the names; however, I did carry the first letter of the characters names to have continuity. I also manipulated how Mercutio introduced to Tybalt as the “King of Cats” and used a metaphor

Hatred and violence can only breed destruction; Tybalt Capulet from Shakespeare’s famous tragedy ‘Romeo and Juliet is a prime example of this. Being born during violent times in troubled Verona, Tybalt is the epitome of the chaos and hatred that has resulted from a feud between two aristocratic families- the Capulets and Montagues. This essay will be portraying how Tybalt’s antagonistic characteristics lead to his death, contributing to his prominent role in the thematic scheme and overall scheme of the text. The last semester of my junior year was mind boggling. I had the amazing opportunity to see First Wave perform at the national Keystone Conference in Orlando, Florida. In awe and inspired, at how poetry, music, storytelling, and hip-hop combined to tackle issues such as conformity and peer pressure. Not only did I want to be a part of the program, I wanted to graduate from the school that they attended as well. To be incorporated in a group of people with strong, creative minds will expose me to how other people view the world and give me experiences that I would not have the opportunity to have anywhere else.
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young, “star-crossed” lovers from feuding families, destined for disaster. The Capulets and the Montagues have an ancient grudge on one another that has been passed down over generations. Unfortunately, Romeo and Juliet end up victims of their families’ vicious loathing. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two 15th century families living in Verona, Italy, hold an ancient grudge. This semester entering English 102 I thought of myself as a bad writer with a lot to say and no idea how to coordinate it or express it. A big reason why I took English stretch composition was to strengthen my writing skills. I feel like I have a better idea of where to put my ideas but I really need help with the technical writing and how to do research papers correctly. My concerns over the semester are not the same as they were at the beginning, they have changed. One of my concerns was that I wouldn’t know how to organize a college essay, but that concern is gone now.
