Asking the tough questions: I thought the video was very informative and gave me a better understand of what psychologist do besides listen to people’s problems. I liked how they explain how psychology is really a science and also the benefits of understanding psychology. Another thing the video did well was have a guy, like most college student or people even, mention how he thought of psychology as simply talking about someone’s problems. That’s how I use to think of psychology, so seeing that helped me to feel more connected to the video and it felt like I was learning with the guy in the video. I remember my mom, who majored in psychology, explaining to me how useful it can be having knowledge of psychology when forming relationships because you have a better understanding of how people think. They defined each perspective in simple easy to understand way, giving a clear definition for each. I also enjoyed how they gave examples to how different perspective would give different treatment to people with the same disorder, the examples help me to get a better understanding of the information and also, demonstrate some of the differences in the perspectives. I remember reading about those in the textbook and feeling lost because there were so many different perspectives, but now that I understand I feel I can see what type of perspective I would use. I think the sociocultural perspective is the one that best suites my belief system because I believe people develop their personality for where they we’re born and how they were brought up, so from their surroundings and experiences.
