During the 2016 election my ability to express empathy was tested in a big way. I have been interested in politics for as long as I can remember, dating all the way back to when I was six years old and I stayed up late to watch Al Gore lose the presidential election to George W. Bush. That was the first time I felt injustice and the first time I was challenged to see the other side’s perspective. Seeing the world through someone else’s eyes is challenging. Everyone has their own perspective or point of view of how things should go. Point of view is almost instinctual.
