Recommended: What is love
Love is considered, by most people, a strong, compassionate, and mostly happy feeling. The definition of love is one of the most complicated in the English language. When dealing with emotions and then differences in human beings, it is nearly impossible to clearly define love. However, there are different types of love, which have some defining characteristics, that truly sets them apart. Love is categorized by, but not limited to, different types. The four types of love that I’ve had some experience with are: romantic love; family/friend love, and self-love. These four types are meaningful to me thus far in my seventeen years of life. Inevitably, two people will become attracted to one another. This is the affectionate type of love called romantic love. This type of love can be very intimate and, in my experience, is one of the most complex. Whether you are young and start out with love based on physical …show more content…
But no one type is more important than another. In fact, they are interdependent on one another and create a void when one is out of whack. When you are secure in at least one of these types of love, it enables you to attempt to love in other ways. Most of all, when you truly love who you are, you are able to exude love to another as you are not super focused on correcting yourself. It is all a wonderful cycle with one common denominator-you! At the center of each of your love relationships is you. Incredibly complex yet simple in concept, love continues to take on new roles and changes as we mature and grow. It is the emotion that you hear about most through songs, verses, poetry, books, and even history! These types of love will forever intrigue us. They will continue to be at the heart of what we say and do. Although I have only had seventeen years to experience love, I have a great foundation in this area. Not knowing where each of these types of love will take me in the future is the most exciting part of
In this chapter 2 of Knox and Schacht the authors explain the way to conceptualize love as well as all the aspects that are incorporated into love. The ways in which people view romantic and realistic love and how here in America we look at romantic love in a sort of fairy tale way. The authors explain the different styles of love that people can be categorized under in different relationships. Knox and Schacht take a look at arranged marriages in other countries and how love is intended to come after you are married and not before Knox and Schacht 2016, pg. 37-45). If relationships are focused on sexual attraction it takes away from simply being friends with a person which can also lead us to not actually seeing a person for who they really
Love: it begins at birth and lasts even after death. Right at birth, contact with the mother (whether it be through hugging or breastfeeding) develops a maternal bond through the release of chemicals, specifically oxytocin and vasopressin (Wu). The same can be said, although to a lesser degree (or greater degree depending on circumstances, like if the mother passed away during childbirth) for the father. Throughout life, most people experience what they think is love, but this is not true. This phenomenon, called infatuation, while having similarities to love, is not identical to love.
...t quench Love, nor floods wash it away." (Songs 8:7) Love is powerful and beautiful if one knows how to show and possess it. Granted it can cause problems, but it has answers too. To say that love is subjective would be an understatement, but in order to have it we must first look within ourselves.
These four types of love play a key role in having a healthy relationship and even developing properly. We as humans thrive for affection. It’s been proven that without love or any type of affection, could hinders a person’s development. In the Bible God said it’s not good for man to be alone, which is why he gave man woman. Love is something that is beautiful and everyone deserves. For love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians
Love is an interpersonal relationship developed, maintained, and possibly destroyed through communication, but also can be enhanced by communication. Love is often described as a feeling of closeness, caring, intimacy and commitment between two people. There are six different types of love: eros, ludus, storge, pragma, mania, and
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
Love, that single feeling which generates the funny sensations in people's stomach, giving them the warm pleasures in their body, causing them to feel joy, and to believe every aspect in their life is right. It causes them to receive an exhilarating, appealing feeling that makes them want to rejoice. Love can be a speeding of their heart, but it can also be nerve-racking. It makes their hearts begin to rapidly pump, making a rapid beat— “ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom”. Attempting to describe love is a rigorous task, but it is possible. However, the easiest detail to describe and understand about love is not so much the feeling of it, but the concept of what it is about. Many people may obtain different views and definitions regarding love, but
There are many positive things and negative things about the movie and the story. In the movie
Everyone has their own interpretation of love. They all have their own meaning and understanding. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the definition of love is, “strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties”(Merriam-Webster), the dictionary definition tells us that it is a feeling toward someone you know and have some sort of connection with. However, to each and every person love has a different meaning that relates to how they have experienced love in the past, and what they have seen or heard about love. Regardless of what each person believes love might mean, the science behind it cannot be changed. Understanding the science of love will give it a definite meaning, inform us why we have love, and it can reshape you.
To better understand the concept of "love", lets define the value of love. Love is the most valuable commodity in the world. We all need love just like a fish needs water. Without love, life would not be worth living. With love in our lives, we are empowered beyond belief.
First, we need to know what love is in order to identify it. From a biblical point of view, love is defined as, “love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud (Corinthians 13:4)” It goes on to include that love is not selfish, not disrespectful, it forgives, trusts, hopes, and protects. The Four Loves, written by C.S. Lewis, defines love as a focus on another person and accepting him/her completely for who he/she is. It is the unselfish giving of yourself. Love and other emotions: On the process of feeling, by Jason Brown, defines love as a source of importance and value.
The next aspect of love is passion. Passion is the feelings or physical attraction and sexual consummation that people have for one another. This is more than idolization of a superstar such as Tom Cruise or Demi Moore. It is an attraction that one might have for a peer or a person with whom they are acquainted. Passion acts as the fire that helps the relationship function. The last aspect of love is decision/commitment.
Poets and philosophers for centuries have been trying to answer the question, what is love? Love has an infinite number of definitions, which vary from one person to another. Love cannot be measured by any physical means. One may never know what true love is until love it- self has been experienced. What is love? A four letter word that causes a person to behave in a way that is out of character. What is love? A first kiss, childhood crushes on a teacher or friend’s mom. What is love? A choice that people make by putting their partner’s wishes, desires and needs above everything else. What is love? The act of forgiveness, the infatuation with someone, the communication between two people. What is love? A friendship that turned into a lifelong commitment, that special someone who has vowed to spend the rest of their lives to honor and protect, to love each other “till death do you part.” When in love nothing else in the world matters. According to the online Encarta Dictionary love is the passionate feeling of romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody. Poets and philosophers may never know what love really is, and we may never truly understand the question what is love.
Love happens when you least expect it. It can happen on the street corner, at the bar, at the grocery store, the park. That’s one of the greatest things about love. As for me I found love in the pouring down rain in the middle of the street. I fell in love with a man who I never thought in a million years I’d fall for. A man who is loving, caring and respectful. The night I laid my eyes on him I knew he was it. He came into my life at a point when I was unraveling and losing control. I was lost for two years after my high school sweetheart and I broke up, I thought I was never going to find real love, but I did. He saved me and I remember every minute from that night.
