The other aims of discourse is to manipulate the symptoms arise in type 2 diabetes and to prevent health related problems later in life.

• If oral hypoglycemic agent as a monotherapy fails to maintain the blood glucose level in the treatment of type 2 diabetes over 3–6 months, prescribe another hypoglycemic agent or move towards insulin.
Monotherapy for type 2 diabetes treatments
• If diabetes not control with the intervention of lifestyle like with exercise or diet within 1 –3 months, oral hypoglycemic agent should be initiated.
• If the patient is diagnosed with high level of blood glucose having the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, oral hypoglycemic agents can be considered along with lifestyle intervention.
Treatment of type 2 diabetes:
In the treatment of type 2 diabetes following guidelines are considered to use the oral hypoglycemic agents:
• Non-obese type 2 diabetic patients, use insulin secretagogues or metformin as the initiated therapy.
• Obese type 2 diabetic patients, start the treatment with metformin, thiazolidinediones or α-glucosidase
