Trump's Argumentative Essay: The Great Barrier

Looking up at the night sky, it usually isn't a good idea to try to count stars. On really good nights, you may be able to see 2500 stars. That is only a fraction of how many stars are in our galaxy alone. In the universe, people estimate that there is 1024. This, in short, is a lot. In fact, for every grain of sand on earth, there are 10,000 stars. Science, as always, argues about how many of those stars are similar to suns. Going with the smaller side of what people think there are 1022 stars like the sun. People also argue about how many earth-like planets there are orbiting those suns. We will go with 100 billion, which, again, is the smaller side of the spectrum of what scientists think. So there are 100 earth-like planets for every grain …show more content…

And not the same kind of barrier as Trump’s Wall. It is a barrier of intelligence. (Like Trump’s wall is a barrier of unintelligence. Sorry.) The main idea is that there is some sort of landmark in history, like getting something into space, or making teleporters. And that only some species are able to get past it. Looking back, just about every animal on earth has gotten stuck on the asking questions part. Now, no animal has made fire, but animals have been able to use sign language with humans. But with their sign language, they never asked a single question because, on earth, humans are the only ones that can wrap their heads around the fact that everybody has a different set of things they know. Some animals can teach each other, but they can’t ask questions like us. Maybe this is the great barrier? No one knows. On a more disturbing note, maybe we haven't passed the barrier, and we will, when our time comes, get stuck at the barrier. This means that the few species that have passed the barrier are much more powerful than us. Even worse, maybe the barrier will not only stop our progress, it will destroy it in an apocalypse. For example, the barrier could be making AIs that can think for themselves. But when the AIs go terminator on us, and we get wiped out, that could be the …show more content…

Some think it’s crazy. I like it for that reason, and for the reason that it really isn't. Why has anything happened? We don’t know. People make things to fill in the blanks of the universe. Big bang? Made by god, or some sort of cosmic entity. Horrible 2016 election? I say it’s aliens toying with us. If so, note to aliens: Knock it off. It’s not funny. Maybe they want to answer their questions of life. And if so, we might very well be a failed experiment (Yay! We’re all failures!) that are too busy killing each other to worry about asking the questions that the aliens are trying to figure out. If we aren’t working as planned, the aliens, could, theoretically, shut us down. How's that for a great barrier? Or, on a less disturbing note, we aren't all failures because we are asking ourselves these questions in the downtime when we aren’t killing each
