My topic is “the future of Nursing in Home Healthcare Is Now” (Home Healthcare Nurse, 2012). In 1867, Florance Nightingale predicted that by the year 2000, more nurses will be working in the home. However, the above article highlighted that lack of home health agencies in planning, training and leadership roles” (Duckett, 2012). In my opinion, Leadership, training, and education is the foundation of the home health nursing. In-home environment, patient, and family depend on the nurse's decisions as nurses are the bridge between physician and patient. The estimate is that by 2020 there will be 50 million people over the age of 65 and roughly 70% of that will be home health care and rest assisted living ”( Landers, Madigan, & Leff, 2016). It will naturally bring many opportunistic investors in this field. That is the reason, why home health care business is expanding, and that will bring serious challenges as well. Being said that, to run home healthcare business efficiently, will eventually fall on nurses. Another significant challenge, facing this industry is keeping sincerity and integrity. Especially when investor only worries about their profit. As we are dealing with sick people who rely entirely on the home healthcare organization for their care, need a Qualified Nurses in a leadership role in providing the best care to the vulnerable patients. However, another big challenge is the turn over rate of nurses in the home health agency due to lack of opportunity for educational incentives and pay rate.
