Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13,1743 in Shadwell, Virginia. He was born into a family that had status, wealth, and tradition of public service. Jefferson was the third child in the family and grew up with six sisters and one brother. Thomas Jefferson was well educated; he attended private schools and at the age of seventeen he attended the College of William and Mary. Thomas Jefferson was interested in being a scientist, after learning that there was no opportunity for a career in science in Virginia he then studied law. In 1767, Thomas Jefferson was admitted to the bar in 1769, when Jefferson public career started he already owned more than twenty-five hundred acres that he inherited from his father who died in 1757. After marring his wife Martha Wayles Skelton whom was a young widow his property doubled. After the death of Martha’s parents, his property doubled again. In 1774, A Summary View of the Rights of British America was the first of Thomas Jefferson major political writings for the revolutionary debate. June of 1775 Thomas Jefferson took a seat in the Second Continental Congress that is when the revolution started. In June of 1776, he joined Benjamin Franklin and John Adams on the special committee to draft The Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was surprised to find himself at the head of the committee to prepare this paper. After Benjamin Franklin and John Adams went over the rough draft the Thomas Jefferson summited to them, they revised it and sent it to Congress. On July 4,1776, the Declaration Of Independence was signed and published. The Jefferson reformation was bottomed on fiscal policy; by reducing the means and powers of government it sought to further peace, equality, and individual freedom. In 1804, Thomas Jefferson was reelected, he focused on ending the war. Thomas Jefferson then retired as president in 1809, he spent the rest of his life at Monticello. Thomas Jefferson maintained a large correspondence and devoted much time to the problems of popular education, the advancement of science and technology, and tireless promotion of the University of Virginia. In Thomas Jefferson, final years of his life resolving his political differences with John Adams. Exactly fifty years after the Declaration of Impendence was signed on July 4,1826 Thomas Jefferson died at the age eighty-three.
