As the third marking cycle is ending, I believe I have learned many concepts within this cycle. I believe I understood every concept pretty well. I grasped the material quickly, understanding every concept. I understood the vocabulary terms and I finished the website with pride. After completing this website, I felt as if I didn’t become overwhelmed relating to the first time I completed one. I learned how to incorporate previously mastered skills onto this cycle, making it easier for me to finish the website. However, after finishing it, I realized that I learned a lot of information regardless of my previous experience. I learned how to do a 360 degree view and actually add more features onto the description of a product. Although this marking period has went by so quickly, I have learned the most. Furthermore, in order to improve my skills, I would limit my way of expressing myself through writing. During my presentation …show more content…
Giles, could have done a better job. When I first entered the classroom, I didn’t realize that it would impact me greatly. Mr. Giles would walk around the classroom and ask if anyone needed assistance. Not only would he incorporate life and politics into our academic learning, but he would also share advice for us to use in the near future. It is expected for the students who had him before to know his regulations and the way his classroom works. Therefore, it is reasonable when Mr. Giles needs to interfere if a student shows misconduct, which rarely happens. Mr. Giles is a really fun and professional idol in my academic experience. He would interact with his students to not only assist them with class work, but with advice on how to properly live in the outside world. He knows what lies outside the school walls and he intends to make it the best as possible, by guiding us into the right direction. Then again, all he wants is to improve our quality of
A teacher’s most important duty is to protect the students they are in charge of. This duty includes both reasonably protecting students from harm and, when a student is harmed, reporting it to the proper authorities (Gooden, Eckes, Mead, McNeal, & Torres, 2013, pp. 103-109). There have been many court cases that reiterate this duty of school staff. One such case is Frugis v. Bracigliano (2003) where many staff at a school failed in their duty to protect students and allowed abuse to continue for years.
Pickering’s argument rested on, as a teacher, he had to refrain from making statements about the school’s operation “which, in the absence of such position, he would have an undoubted right to engage in” (Oyez,
It is vital for any presentation a well develop organization, is important to communicate with efficiency and clarity, a bad communication can turn out to be an unrealized business, or a misunderstood task. Although knowledgeable speakers, need to be prepare before giving a speech. When speakers rehearsed their presentations, they will deliver a good speech because they will look secured, prepared, and knowledge about the topic they are talking about. This will engage the audience, allowing the speakers to achieve the result desired which is persuade the listener to be involved in their projects. On the other hand,
I realize that I have a weakness on written skill, which is accuracy. The errors on grammar or punctuation happen in my writing occasionally, which is not acceptable in business communication. So, I will pay more attention on the improvement of my written

With a better outline I believe your speech skills will improve because you can implement places in your outlines to remind yourself to pause, emphasis certain points, use hand gestures at certain points. To achieve this I will spend more time on my outline and go into greater detail in my outline to make small points that can help me during my speech.
Robinson’s method of handling Emily’s disobedience towards classroom rules was the fact that he lacked empathy when it came to finding a solution for the issue. Ramifications for poor classroom behavior should never decrease a student’s dignity. A mutual respect between the student and the teacher should remain even when a complication in the classroom arises (Farr, 2009, p. 137). Conjointly, Mr. Robinson should also exercise classroom consequences on a progressive level that considers the severity of the dilemma and if this is a repeated action. Additionally, to encourage appropriate classroom behavior, teachers should first implement clear classroom standards for the students to follow. One of the most effective ways of constructing standards is to focus on positive ones that assure students what they should be doing, opposed to what they should not be doing. As well, teachers should strive to build relationships with their students where beneficial communication between the two can take place. In the case of having to unfortunately reprimand a student, proper communication can help the message be delivered with more consideration. With all of this in mind, teachers will be able to establish more productive ways of handling classroom behaviors, from both the teacher and the student, that are considered
We could improve our effective communicating skills by listen carefully to others, well initiate discussions about the task and sense how others feel based on nonverbal interaction. A level of openness, self-disclosure and trust, support and respect is needed in order to gain a confident team and a well literate presentation. As a team we should have individual responsibility and duties of our tasks as we allocated them for each member to do at a reasonable time limit. We could give each other constructive feedback, problem solve efficiently and manage and organise each slide.
After reading the essay On Writing by Stephen King, it was apparent that improving writing skills is important. The beginning to forming a better career is to first read because “one learns most clearly what not to do by reading bad prose”. (King) Improving writing skills can further improve verbal communication skills and help to advance in life. When someone improves their writing skills, they can then improve their verbal communication skills. Improving both verbal and written communication skills will lead to a better career path.
When I take my time I can elaborate and connect with my audience. I need to work on not being choppy when I type and use better transition words. Know how to use punctuation correctly, and understand the basics of writing a little bit better.

Also, I have learnt to relax to balance when I were to do a live statue. I realized that I am not open enough to express my actions as adventurous as others’. In “stage direction”, I have learnt the right directions for an actor on stage. I also learnt the different kinds of pattern to go off-stage. When I was doing the presentation of Life Brief Candle, I feel comfortable in expressing emotion but not in action. To be honest, I thought I have eye-contact with the audience. In fact, I was looking at a middle point between Ms. Pat and the audience. Through the presentations, I learnt about my ability and weaknesses. As comments from Ms. Pat, I have good internalization with the story, yet I am not good in expressing my actions (I was blocking my actions) and eye-contact with the audience. Also, I would need to improve my English
I believe, after only reading two chapters, this book is one that all educators need to read. There are so many great examples and ideas that could really help any educator. Unfortunately, I have witnessed far too many times the effects of educators being the disciplinary problem. I remember spending the whole class periods not learning anything because the teachers were trying to handle a minor problem that had escalated because of them. I even remember some teachers becoming furious and cursing at students for something so miniscule. In my experience, teachers who employ these types of strategies and characteristics are not respected by their students and therefore the students continue to act out and become unengaged. On the other hand, I have witnessed amazing teachers handle disciplinary issues with poise and dignity. I have seen, as the book suggested, teachers standing behind the students or tapping them lightly on their shoulder when they were engaging in off-task behaviors, which I have seen typically
According to Sunal & Haas, 2011 the learning cycle is comprises of the following three phases: (a) The exploratory introduction phase; (b) The lesson development phase; and (c) The expansion phase (p.37). According to Bevevino, Dengel, & Adams, teachers using the learning cycle format can create a series of activities that are personally meaningful to the students and give students opportunities to practice critical thinking skills. These authors go on to explain that the goal of the learning cycle is to allow students to apply previous knowledge, develop interests, and initiate and maintain a curiosity toward the materials at hand" (1999).
Furthermore, I continued to strengthen my own habits. Educating our students to intelligently question a situation and make informed decisions is an important part of properly participating in citizenship duties within their community. Humans are observers by nature. Modeling positive traits could influence positive behavior. I respect my colleagues and students. To show respect for their ideas, personalities and character, it is crucial not to discuss student information with other students or divulge unnecessary data to another teacher not involved in their education. There is a teacher within my department whose comments regarding her student’s abilities are rather negative. Instead of allowing her to demean her students, I stand as an advocate and comment on their capabilities to do any of the work she requests because they have passed all their other science courses without issue.
