Since 1950 greenhouse gases have increased from 1200 million metric tons to 6500 million metric tons. A whopping 542% increase within 50 years opposed to 1900-1950 which was a 240% increase (What is Climage Change). Global climate change is not controversial. It has been affecting the world around us since the 1950’s. Climate change is causing devastating problems for the world’s essential resources because it is increasing extreme weather patterns which is decreasing energy production and transportation and is causing agriculture to suffer.
Climate change is increasing extreme weather patterns. The ocean’s waters are becoming warmer which gives more energy to tropical storms. An example of this is hurricane Katrina in 2005. This storm was the deadliest hurricane to every hit America, killing 1,833 people, and it was also the costliest storm, causing $125 billion in damage. Droughts and wildfires are also more likely to occur because of the warmer climate. From 1992-2002 was the most extensive drought in 40 years. In 2006 new records were set with over 100,000 fires reported and almost 10million acres of land burned. Heavier and more frequent rain storms are also a cause of the warmer climate. The annual precipitation has increased 5-10% since the beginning of the 20th century. The northeast region had its wettest summer on record in 2006 (Consequences of Global Warming). As a result of the warmer climate associated with climate change the weather patterns are becoming more extreme. Tropical storms are becoming more deadly, wildfire and droughts are becoming more frequent, and rain storms are increasing in precipitation and frequency.

We cannot dispute that automobiles, factories, and power plants, displace an unprecedented twenty tons of carbon monoxide - per person - per year. There needs to be a reduction in emissions, yet we cannot focus on this aspect of global warming alone. There are many indicators that climatic change is influencing the frequency and intensity of natural catastrophes. If scientific global climate models are accurate, the present problems will be magnified in the near future.
Global climate change and its apparent effects have been the subject of much discussion for a number of years. It is often claimed that this change is too advanced and the damage caused by it is irreversible, meaning that any efforts by us to undo this are in vain. Although I agree that our planet has become unalterably changed, I don’t entirely concur that this change is now completely beyond repair.
Climate change, otherwise known as global warming, has grown more apparent in recent years, with increased natural disasters, significantly warmer temperatures and unreasonably long seasons. Global warming is one of the main concerns that scientists have been researching for the past century. Scientific evidence shows that global warming is caused by human behaviors. Due to the amount of human-induced carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that have been released into the air, the earth is becoming a highly poisonous place to live on. Earth’s climate has been constantly changing ever since the Industrial Revolution, when innovations began and factories were built, which emitted mass air pollution. As more technological advances continued the years after, the amount of carbon dioxide in the air also increased. According to the UPI Space Daily News, “Global emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) - the main cause of global warming - increased by 45% between 1990 and 2010, and reached an all-time high of 33 billion tonnes in 2010” (Writers 1). The 1900s through the 2000s is the time period in which humans caused the most air pollution by creating vehicles and other industrial machinery. In the contemporary time period, human activities that contribute to climate change consist of hydraulic fracturing, rice cultivation, the increase of fossil fuel burning, and the rise of deforestation.
One of the most compelling and difficult environmental problems society faces today is climate change. People do not realize how much the environment has changed for the worse in the last ten years, until they are told that the last two decades of the 20th century have been the hottest in the last 400 years, according to climate studies (Conserve Energy Future). Today, the carbon dioxide levels have reached 396.81 parts per million (ppm). “Carbon dioxide (CO2) has also increased over the last 100 years-- from about 300 ppm to 370 ppm. Interestingly, the majority of these additions have occurred in the last 50 years, when temperature increases have been the slowest” (geocraft).
Global warming and global climate change is the study of future increases of temperature across the globe. Studying climate change refers to how the over- all climate will change such as the dry places getting dryer and the wet places getting wetter. Global climate is dependent on “the greenhouse effect a natural process that helps regulate temperature” (Easterling and Karl). In the past few centuries humans have had a monumental effect on increasing of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Our world is always changing, so is our climate. Some changes are apparent, others not so much. Climate change is an important issue of concern in the twenty-first century. Environment, if it changes at all, evolves so slowly that the difference cannot be seen in a human lifetime (Wearth, 2014). To sum up, it is obvious that climate shift is actually happened. Human is considered to be the primary cause of the problem. Activities like burning fossil fuel and deforestation are upsetting the climate by interrupt the natural greenhouse gases balance. Global warming has a long term effects in our life. This is a serious concern that actions should be taken immediately before it is too late.
