Before the Revolutionary and the Civil War, the colonies were under the rule of Britain, so things like unfair distribution of taxes and unnecessary trade restrictions initiated an ambition to be independent and later caused the Revolutionary War to happen. The increasing amount of taxes being impinged on many everyday items was one of the greatest contributing factors that sparked the Revolutionary War. The Stamp Act led to many riots because they thought it would be unfair to tax people for just paper and thought was unnecessary. “If this cursed act is not repealed, we shall be great Sufferers, and our Manufacturers thrown on their Parishes, for want of Support, whilst People who employed them, will not be in a much better situation.” In 1765, King George III specifically said, “For every pack of such cards, the sum of one shilling.” This led to angry mobs of people rioting and protesting …show more content…

Like many, a child has to separate from its mother at one point. When the colonies asked for independence, Britain panicked because without the colonies, they wouldn’t be able to pay off their debts and/or sufficiently pay royal appointees. In order to prevent the colonies from gaining independence, Britain called out for another war. This was another contributing factor of what initiated the American Revolution. Without the many taxes Britain burdened to the colonies, the many trade restrictions, and the many restraints Britain has grasped, the colonies wouldn’t be able to grow out of their old ways.
