"There, I guess King George will be able to read that.” John Hancock. This was a quote from John Hancock, during our fight for freedom called the American revolution. This was a time of bloodshed, death, and war. Out of many events there were three main factors that led up to the American Revolution and they were the Stamp Act, the Intolerable Acts, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To start off, after the French and indian war Great Britain needed funds for the troops in the colonies, so it established the Stamp Act in 1775. The Stamp Act was a tax that was put on paper goods such as playing cards, paper, and documents to meet these monetary needs. The colonists were very mad and started peaceful protests that later got violent. The colonists started breaking into British officials’ homes and burning their belongings and sometimes hanging the British officials. This act was then repealed in 1776. After it was repealed, the colonists felt very powerful. That lead them much further to revolution. …show more content…

The Intolerable Acts were a series of punishments by parliament to the colonists for the Boston Tea Party (when the colonists threw crates of tea into the Boston harbor). These were the acts. The Boston Port Act closed Boston harbor, thus discontinuing all trade with the colonies. The Administration of Justice Act made sure British officials couldn’t be sued. The Massachusetts Government act put Boston under the British crown. The New Quartering act made it so the colonists had to house British soldiers and the Quebec Act extended Quebec to the Ohio River. This made the colonists outraged because they were losing their land and giving up their homes and some colonists were now under British
