My Personal Experience: The Stages Of Change Model

The stages of change model are been always present in my life. The reason why I said this is because with this assignment I just realize that this had been going on for me for a long time. My personal experience is as follow. Since my childhood I suffer from been obese. Compare with other children I was always the chunky one or the biggest one. Because my overweight problem I grew up thinking that I was not like everybody else and I cannot be like everybody else because my problem. With this paper I am going to explain the link in between my childhood obesity problem and how I use the stages of change model to overcome this and be who I am now. This stage comes in when I was a teenager and I was wondering why I could not get a boyfriend. All my friends were dating and I was not, so I decided to do something about and I start work out. This stage explains that an activity has begun and the purpose is to change a behavior. At this moment of my life I need to do something. I was looking for a relationship but at the same I was feeling behind in everything such as games and I was also having health problems with my breathing. I decide that it was time to change the model. First, I change my diet. The first thing I did was to change from eating all the time to regulate my food. In addition, I decided to have more vegetables and fruits include in my diet. Fruit and vegetable (F&V) intake is one factor amenable to change to reduce the risk of chronic health problems including heart disease, stroke, and some cancers. (Jury, A., & Flett, R. (2010). Fruit and vegetables were not included before in my diet but now they become an important part of it. Second, I implement an exercise program were I combine walking and running. I think maintenance is the most difficult stage of change of behavior because is the stage of keeping the work. For me this means keep the pounds loss the way they were. My main concern in this stage at least in my case was to keep the control in my diet and keep doing exercises so I would have a better life and a better health. I think it all matter what are your goal and how hard you want to accomplish them. In my case I would not let go and I would not change my person. In other words I would be what I want to be and I am going to accomplish this. Losing weight for me was a big challenge because I have to go over my mother and over the house rules and some cultures theories of how a young lady should behave and what is a safe and unsafe condition to go and play with other children. I really believe that this was my mother’s main concern and this is why she keeps me all the time in the
