His last victim was 12 year old Kimberly Leach. He kidnapped and mutilated her. He was caught because he was arrested for stealing a car. Identifiers at the jail recognized him right away as Ted Bundy. Witnesses said that they saw Bundy lurking around Kimberly’s elementary school, and all around the University of Florida’s campus. Bundy first trial was for the attacks on the sorority girls on campus at the University of Florida. During this trial, Bundy acted as his own attorney, and made it look to the people around watching that he was very mental and insane for doing this. Bundy played his part very well as attorney. People watching said that it was very interesting the way Bundy did this. He knew what he was talking about because he was going to school to become a lawyer. The judges weren't fouled, however. Bundy was found guilty and was given two death sentences. Bundys second trial was the trail for Kimberly Leach. During this trial, he had his own attorney. His posture and overall mood was different than that of the first trial. He just seemed very angry. One of the character witnesses for Bundy at this trial was Carol Boone. She was his girlfriend at the time, and because Bundy wanted to make a statement of his “sanity” he married her during the trial. This surprised almost everyone, but he was still found guilty, and was sentenced to another death
He was intelligent, articulate and handsome. During a gruesome killing spree, Ted Bundy slaughtered more than thirty five women within the span of five years, becoming one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. He grew up believing that his grandparents were his parents and his unwed mother to be his older sister. He was not very good at building relationships and had a lot of conflict with his stepfather and enjoyed the terms of violence and sex as a child. Ted shoplifted during his teenage years and enjoyed being above the law. He was generally very shy and gained a lot of popularity and self esteem in high school because of his good looks. It was there that he met his high school girlfriend Stephanie Brooks with whom he become obsessed, but the relationship did not last very long as she did not feel the same way for him so she broke up with him. Depressed by the break up, Ted dropped out of college and returned home with his family where he found out the truth about his biological mother. This left Ted in a state of confusion about his identity and he felt betrayed by the women in his life. He went back to high school where he and Stephanie got back together but right after she agreed to marry him, he broke up with her to seek revenge. After this charade his killing spree began, luring young women with lies, abducting, raping, physically abusing and killing them.
Serial Killer. A seldom used term for a human who commits a murder of 3 or more other beings. This term was first given to one of the most horrific murderers ever, the Lady Killer. This man admitted to 30 homicides in 7 states. The murders at Chi Omega and the kidnap and murder of Leech could have been prevent more than once by police, but this intelligent criminal was always one step ahead of law enforcement. This man admitted to possibly killing more than 60 girls, and his name was Theodre Bundy.
The investigators in the Ted Bundy case adhere to all the legal elements in our constitution. When investigators knew they did not have enough evidence to arrest Bundy, they gathered all the evidence necessary in order to condemn him of kidnapping Carol DaRonch. They provided him an attorney when he could not possibly afford one and when he fired the attorney, he was allowed to represent himself in his own case. The detectives in Florida were able to provide many crucial evidence linking him to the assault and death of Kimberly Leach and the deaths of the other girls. Bundy was justly condemned, as the Mosaic Law would have it, to death through the electric chair for the death of the many girls he had murder.

Their minds think in different ways, they have different motives and they all have different backgrounds. No two cases are the same. Adverse events taken place in one’s childhood often reflects poorly upon an individual's adult life but not all people who have had an atrocious childhood feel urged to kill. As if molded directly from the depths of nightmares, both fascinating and terrifying. Serial killers hide behind bland and normal existences. They are often able to escape being caught for years, decades and sometimes an eternity. These are America’s Serial Killers (America’s Serial Killers). “Even when some of them do get caught, we may not recognize what they are because they don’t [sic] match the distorted image we have of serial killers” (Brown). What is that distorted image? That killers live among everyday life, they are the ones who creep into someone’s life unknowingly to torture and kill them. The serial killers that are in the movies, Norman Bates, Michael Myers, and the evil master mind of SAW, these characters are just that characters. They have been made up as exaggerated fictional characters from the Hollywood imagination.
Introduction: On the spectrum of criminal activity, serial killers are rather rare. Rarer still is a serial killer like Ted Bundy. Bundy confessed to killing 28 women in the 1970s in ghastly fashion and some believe he may have killed far more. It is hard to imagine what could cause any person to cross the mental boundary into such macabre behavior as Bundy perpetrated. Nevertheless, it is important to try to understand that behavior because only though such an understanding would society be able to identify and deter mass murderers in order to save lives.

Serial killings graphic details in incomprehensible madness almost seem fictional, but the statistics reveal an alarming rise in these murders. Ignoring this terrifying fact will not make it disappear, only increase. The thought "It will not happen to me" is no longer logical due to the constant elevation of serial killings. These callous and meticulous killers are without prejudice or motive, leaving everyone susceptible.

On a chilly afternoon in late 1977, a young, newly-wed woman of 26 was dropped off at her Volkswagen Beetle by her sister-in-law. Her name was Gini McNair. She waved goodbye to her companion, unlocked the driver's door, and stepped into her vehicle. Sitting at the wheel, with the key in the ignition, she glanced around the deserted Boulder Canyon Road located outside of Boulder, Colorado. While waiting for her dusty red Volkswagen to warm up, she saw another one, light blue, heading down Sugarloaf Road towards her. When she glanced at the driver as he went past, he took the opportunity to look her over as well. With piercing eyes, Ted Bundy quickly examined Gini as he drove by her. When his eye caught hers, Gini immediately felt like she had just been delivered a swift punch in the stomach. He turned around at the bottom of Sugarloaf Road and drove over to where she was parked. As he walked over to her window, she rolled it down. He leaned in close and asked, "Are you having car trouble?"
