INTRODUCTION I was given the task to make an assignment on the subject of Business Information Management. In this assignment, I have to read and analyse a case study entitled RBS failure caused by inexperienced computer operative in India. After that, I need to make a summary of this case study because it shows what I understand in this case study. Besides that, the objective of this case study is to know the factors that have caused the system failure at Royal Bank of Scotland. The management in Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have found people who have caused the problem which is the junior technician from India, who accidentally erased a massive swathe of information during a routine software upgrade for the Royal Bank of Scotland and its subsidiaries NatWest and Ulster Bank. A computer system failure occurs due to the presence of unwanted computer virus. These nasty digital infections can cause a plethora of unpleasant side effects. If there are a sign indicating the system failure, it is better for company to respond immediately to mitigate the impact of system failure. Here there are several tips how to prevent computer system failure which is: a) Avoid storing the documents on the same drive as operating system Most of word processors will save the files in the My Documents folder, this is the worst place for save the data as My Document is one of the parts of operating system and the majority of computer problems will be affected the operating system like a virus or software failure problems. The only solution left is to reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system, but all things on the drive is lost.
