In your own words:
Our primary function as a Community Paramedic is to provide a service outside of an emergency department. Community Paramedicine consists of select community paramedics that operate with an advanced scope of practice that differs from the traditional roles of a paramedic. Roles include treatment and referral of acute minor illnesses and injuries, treatment and referral of chronic illness and injures, immunization programs such as flu vaccinations, wound care, triage for appropriate resources, patient education and health promotion.
How many of you heard of Community Paramedicine prior to this course? Do you currently know of a person who functions as a Community Paramedic?

Service is when someone uses their skill and effort to enrich the wellbeing of others. It is an inherited trait of every individual to look after himself or herself. Service is a benevolent or an altruistic effort in which the benefits typically used for oneself are offered to another. Temple hospital offers community health workers to patients who are in need.
The roles of emergency services consist on the medical team who is responsible for scene assessment of personnel and equipment requirements, coordinating information to and from hospitals, oversee treatment from medical and nursing personnel, the ambulance crew will do the triage, patient transfer from the scene, and health service communication. The fire services are responsible for eliminating the fire and rescue trapped casualties using specialist equipment, the police team will control the traffic to aid evacuation, identify and move the dead, maintain law and
In the research paper of Paramedics and Evidence based practice there was a large online survey, which was based on, five question related to Evidence Based Practice (EBP) and pre-hospital. Descriptive statistics are used to answer the question provided in the survey, where large number of paramedic have positive attitude towards evidence-based practices. The survey were consists of different question asked about paramedic with there year of experience there education level and clinical level where different demography of student and paramedic were involved. There were 892-response given to the survey through out one months of study period. Here 90% believed pre hospital care improve patient care and 92% report being likely to change clinical practices as a result of pre hospital evidences. With the research of Evidence Based Practice they find out that paramedic were distinct group of health provider in the society. The research also tells us that paramedics who have positive expectation on EBP were more likely to responds towards the survey which involves tertiary education and shorter length services. Some limitation of these survey includes only certain groups of paramedics were involved also the instrument used were not validity or reliability and single paramedic have respond more than one in the survey.
Being a part of the paraprofessional team requires that I be knowledgeable on how to handle all kinds of difficult scenarios. Case study number one presents a possible situation that a Resident Advisor may have to deal with. There are many steps and processes involved in solving some problems that paraprofessionals will encounter. Case study number one presents an issue between the members of a community government. It is important to recognize though, that there is much more hidden beneath the few problems that seem to have surfaced. These issues may appear as much less on the surface, but beneath each problem, lies much deeper roots. These roots are what must be dealt with in order to do a thorough job of taking care of the issues at hand.
Paraprofessionals continue to be instrumental in the instruction of students with disabilities in public schools. However, because of lack of training, paraprofessionals struggle to implement evidence-based interventions with high levels of fidelity and also report lack of understanding of job roles and responsibilities. I created and examined a training package based upon the evidenced-based practices of discrete trial instruction, prompting and differential reinforcement. I found after the delivery of the six-week program, all participants reported better understanding of their job roles and responsibilities and increased the fidelity with which they implemented those three evidence-based practices. The training package included three separate
One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was earning my high school diploma, despite all the hard work that led me where I am today was well worth it. Many people would expect me to say I am coming to college to better myself as a person or to continue my education. The truth is I want to change a life in my community, make my parents proud of their daughter and start a tradition in my family.

We tend to help the paramedics with lifting assistance if the patient is a larger person. We also go to CPR calls to help try to make the chances of survival higher. One of the worst parts of the medical portion is overdoses. An overdose can be with prescription drugs or usually heroin. We canister the patient with narcan to possibly bring them
Imagine finding your child pulse less and not breathing. What a terrifying thought! Would you know how to save your child’s life? The number of parents that do not know CPR is astounding. Simply knowing CPR could make a dramatic difference in the lives of you and your loved ones.
Everyday there are hundreds of ambulances, fire engines and police cars being called to the scene of emergencies. I’m sure you hear the roar of their sirens, but you don’t think twice about them and are able to tune them out. The only time most people even think about the sirens is if they are forced to wait at a light or move over to the right shoulder and let them pass. When you look back and think about those sirens, where do you suppose they are going? Most people probably think that they are going to a car accident with entrapment, or a person with crushing chest pain to try and intervene and get them to the hospital.

When I was 17, I entered into a local basic emergency medical technician class and fell in love with working in emergency medical services. I spent 5 very fulfilling years working and also volunteering as an EMT and went on to graduate from the paramedic program at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. Prior to the class, I had fallen ill and worked with several doctors in an effort to find a diagnosis for a condition that was affecting my hands and feet. The effects at the time were minimal, but were exacerbated by the many hours required working on ambulances and in the hospital to complete paramedic clinicals. Immediately following graduation from the paramedic program, I became wheelchair bound. For about a year while in the wheelchair, doctors continued to work toward a diagnosis while my condition worsened. Eventually, doctors started to prepare me for the possibility of losing both of my legs. I spent a lot of time researching my symptoms before finally finding my own diagnosis. My legs were saved and I am happily back on my feet; however, I can no longer work on ambulances due to a poor immune system and there will always be the possibility that I could become
I am currently a college freshman and the careers that I would like to explore after college are paramedic and registered nurse. The reason why I picked these two careers is because I love medicine and I would love to have a major where I can make a difference in someone’s life. These two careers are similar but different at the same time. Paramedic is emergency medicine it requires a person be too quick on their feet and be ready for absolutely anything. Registered nursing can be similar as paramedic in the aspect that you can focus of the emergency medicine part but as a nurse you can explore more in the medicine route, you can go into pediatrics or geriatrics you don’t have to just to stick with the emergency medicine like with paramedic.
The first duty is to monitor all patients assigned to you. Other duties include being responsible for equipment and maintaining a professional image and attitude at all times. Examples of requirements are being able to lift at least 100 pounds being able to react calmly in emergency situations. There are also warnings about the environment that you are working in. There are “frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, inclement weather and other conditions common to a pre-hospital environment”. When I was doing my research I found an article of personality types that often are paramedics or EMTs. A lot of people working in emergency medical services are Type A personalities. The article explains the traits of a Type A personality to be someone who is competitive, self-critical, and feel a sense of urgency constantly. “There is little room for error in this profession, which is why a self-critical, competitive and organized person is the perfect fit for EMS” (Type A). This would be a job that is satisfying for the indicial that craves excitement. I think that not everyone is able to withstand the pressure of this specific job and emergency services in general. Both the goal of the company and the individual need to be helping the
A paramedic’s work is physically challenging as well as emotionally stressful, sometimes involving suffering patients and life threatening situations. Elizabeth Mesick, EMT-P, Guilford County Emergency Services, states, “…although the work is very stressful, it’s exciting and I enjoy the opportunity to help people. This position is very rewarding and I would recommend it to others who have a passion for helping people and a strong stomach.”
