By inborn nature, Man does not hate wickedness, and love virtue. God gives us lessons to show us how to live good and Godly lives. The below story is a modern adaptation of the Rich man and Lazarus
Tobias Wolff's short story, "The Rich Brother", is a parallel story to the biblical fable of Able and Cain. The biblical story of Able and Cain is that of the first story that puts man against man. Cain and Able are children of Adam and Eve, where Cain is the eldest and Able the younger of the two. In the biblical story Cain and Able end up giving gifts (sacrifices) to appease to their God. This in turn, creates tension between the two because Able's sacrifice of the lamb is much favored by God than is Cain's offering of his crops. Cain becomes outraged because he believes that Able has purposely tried to embarrass him, ultimately, leading Cain to become so enraged that he ends up murdering his only brother in cold blood. Throughout, 'The Rich Brother', Wolff portrays Peter as Cain because he shows a lack of devotion to God, creates a rival ship with his brother, and climatically abandons his only brother Donald.
“The Young, the Rich, and the Famous: Individualism as an American Cultural Value,” written by, Poranee Natadecha-Sponsel relates to values and beliefs of different cultures. These include greetings, jobs, relationships, welfare, and even finances. I have never realized how different some cultures really are. Individualism is strongly touched upon in this short story. My first reaction when reading this was disbelief. I could not understand or believe how different we really are from other cultures. The main topic of this text is individualism between American and Thai cultures. I would also say that the main audience intended for this text would be Americans. The author effectively states that individualism truly has been valued immensely in America.

In 2008, Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow produced a raunchy comedy titled Step Brothers. From the beginning, this movie made my mind jumble. It has a hilarious plot line but skips around to make the flow confusing and scattered. Time inconsistently passes throughout the movie. Starting with Robert and Nancy meeting and instantly getting married then moving in, gives the movie a confusing beginning.
A Rebuttal of “Brother, Don’t Spare a Dime” In “Brother, Don’t Spare a Dime,” L. Christopher Awalt says that homeless people are homeless on their own accord. He believes “many of them seem to have chosen the lifestyles they lead” (Awalt))).. This article states that most homeless people would prefer to escape responsibility rather than fix their social and economic problems. Awalt uses an example of a man who had been on the streets for about 10 years. He provided this man with resources to improve his life and within four months he was making progress.
“The beauty of me is that I am very rich” according to Donald Trump. His ignorance has lead him to do things that he shouldn’t being doing or has done. In the past few months he has been racist man that would insult people that are from a different race. When Trump started running for president he would insult and bully everybody in general not knowing the people’s stories. He made people seem like they are poor and have nothing to live for, Trump’s inability to see past his greed. He wants to separate the United States and wants people to think he is the best of the best; Trump should not be President.
True power comes from within the heart. When a person can express his or her feelings without being put down, they become more confident in themselves. Invisible Man, a novel written by Ralph Ellison shows a man who does everything he can to fit in with the people around him. He was sent to New York to get a job, earn money, and hopefully come back one day to show to the college of his dreams that he belongs their. Ellison shows IM joining a small group called the Brotherhood to get a better understanding of his place in life. IM's life changes after he meets the members of the Brotherhood, and they play with his mind throughout the novel.

A penny saved may be a penny earned, just as a penny spent may begin to better the world. Andrew Carnegie, a man known for his wealth, certainly knew the value of a dollar. His successful business ventures in the railroad industry, steel business, and in communications earned him his multimillion-dollar fortune. Much the opposite of greedy, Carnegie made sure he had what he needed to live a comfortable life, and put what remained of his fortune toward assistance for the general public and the betterment of their communities. He stressed the idea that generosity is superior to arrogance. Carnegie believes that for the wealthy to be generous to their community, rather than live an ostentatious lifestyle proves that they are truly rich in wealth and in heart. He also emphasized that money is most powerful in the hands of the earner, and not anyone else. In his retirement, Carnegie not only spent a great deal of time enriching his life by giving back; but also often wrote about business, money, and his stance on the importance of world peace. His essay “Wealth” presents what he believes are three common ways in which the wealthy typically distribute their money throughout their life and after death. Throughout his essay “Wealth”, Andrew Carnegie appeals to logos as he defines “rich” as having a great deal of wealth not only in materialistic terms, but also in leading an active philanthropic lifestyle. He solidifies this definition in his appeals to ethos and pathos with an emphasis on the rewards of philanthropy to the mind and body.
