Plastic Surgery-A Way to Become More Beautiful, or Someone’s Unhealthy Idea?

In our culture, a lot of times people advise us to compare ourselves with others. We are bombarded with “The perfect nose”, “Reclaim and Reshape your body”, “Get rid of your muffin top”, etc. This is not the best way of thinking. There are many reasons to change this way of thinking and to begin comparing ourselves only with ourselves. Love the person that you see looking back at you in the mirror. This is the way it should be, and in this paper I will discuss some of the most important reasons for this.

The first reason to avoid comparing yourself to others is that there will always be someone better looking than you. Plastic surgery is not the answer. It doesn’t matter in which aspect, but it is always true. Modern plastic surgery can alter any aspect of physical appearance, from facial features to body shape. Not all cosmetic surgeries are bad. Some are done for medical reasons, such as reconstruction surgery after an accident, while other procedures are voluntary. You should always weigh the pros and cons before having plastic surgery. Sometimes plastic surgery does not produce the results the patient desires. For these reasons it is very important to ensure that you get a board certified surgeon who specializes in exactly the procedure you want done. Do not expect unrealistic results, such as that surgery will make you look like a movie star or automatically solve your personal problems. Stop comparing yourself to others. One who compares him/ her self with others is judging, and this does not help us develop as human beings.
