Cosmetic surgery companies offer many options in which to finance cosmetic procedures for individual of all income levels. There were over 10 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed in the United States in 2008, as reported by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). (Surgery, 2009) The statistic mentioned, clearly shows how many of us now would be willing to undergo cosmetic surgery. But, have you asked why? In today’s society, plastic surgery is the number one chosen alternative decision for the augmentation of physical appearance, scar repair and for the repair of a deformity, whether it be a birth defect or disfigurement from an accident.
In conclusion, cosmetic surgery is not a solution to peer pressure, insecurity and bullying , in contrary, it increases depression rate for most people, causes selfdestruction for most cases, and damgages ones selfesteem after idolizing celebrities who have the perfect figure.
Cosmetic surgery is essentially not a bad thing. Some people suffer facial and body injuries or are born with a deformity which can only be corrected by plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgery can also be a life saver in cases of extreme obesity. However, some people-especially young females- are becoming too obsessed with their looks and body. The quest of finding the perfect body has led many to the operating table, opting for multiple cosmetic surgeries.
Often what is not natural by nature is not easily accepted by society. People are expected to live the way others think they should live and not the way they want to live. The “term plastic surgery comes from the Greek word “plastikos” which means to mold or shape.”(Plastic Surgery) Initial plastic surgery was used as a way to correct injury or defects in the early 1600‘s. Based on ISAPS Global Statistics for 2010 to 2011, it illustrates that in Canada the number of nonsurgical procedures requiring no incision has dropped by 30% while the number of surgical procedure has increased by 30% from 2010. In recent years the practice is not just limited to correcting an abnormality or defect it can be used to alter or enhance an individual’s appearance. Plastic surgery has proved to be beneficial in a case like bullying, parenting, and the media. It has the ability to eliminate differences and help people to conform to society’s expectations.
Plastic surgery is not a new field of medicine. Traditionally, plastic surgery dealt with fixing abnormalities of the body, but recently people are enjoying the luxury of plastic surgery simply because they are not happy with their appearance. People make appointments with plastic surgeons for procedures such as rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. These people look forward to desired results from such procedures without considering the risks. Many risks accompany plastic surgery, but they are rarely discussed in the media. Death is even a possible conclusion of the surgery. Why would people subject themselves to such conditions as having their face swollen for weeks, barely being able to walk, and the excruciating pain that comes after they awaken from surgery? Even more important is the question, why are teenagers becoming more and more eager to get plastic surgery operations performed on themselves?
I think plastic surgery should be banned because bad things could happen during and after surgery and most results are bad and thousands of people are hurt by their results and pay more money to fix it also some die from infections. The risks of Cosmetic surgery
In conclusion, the benefits of cosmetic surgery differ between people and situations; any negative thoughts of others may have an effect on a person’s decision to have a procedure done, but it is for the patient to decide if changing their body is the right decision for them. Regardless of the influences on the younger generation, unrealistic ideologies of patients, and moral issues others may have, plastic surgery will continue to be a huge part of society. However, society should be focusing on how to encourage others to seek happiness in whatever they seem fit, rather than choose to destroy the aspirations of others who choose to build a perfect body for

Most of us don't like some aspect of our appearance, whether it's sagging eyes or excess weight in particular areas, to name a few complaints. Lately a record numbers of Americans are doing something about it by having plastic surgery. Since 1995, the number of cosmetic procedures, which range from liposuction to facelifts, has almost tripled (English 23). Is that a healthy choice-or a dangerous trend? Aging has become the field of the future for plastic surgeons whose patients have reasons not always valid in the search for youth and beauty.
A person doesn’t have to go through an experience such as bullying, weight loss or an accident to undergo modification surgery. Plastic surgery is a trend that has many people on the tips of their toes but honestly plastic surgery is a good thing. A person should feel good about him or herself on the inside and out no matter what they look like. It does receive a bad connotation because some people do it for the wrong reasons. Undergoing surgery for those who have been bullied or teased can alleviate those harsh memories of being tormented in their younger years. Body contouring after weight loss gives the person who lost all the weight truly feel that they succeeded in something that a lot of people struggle to do. Having the same appearance again due to surgery after a horrible accident can improve a person life tremendously. Reconstructive surgery was created for the reason to improve and modify different areas of the body where people are
