Whether a school have more pedagogical or administrative schooling methods is still a push-and-pull debate in today 's time, and has been for centuries. In C&I 204 we learned about the positive and negative sides of both of these methods through reading Dare the School Build a New Social Order by George Counts, and watching a presentation that further showed the two progressives. One point on the pedagogical progressive side that I plan to incorporate into my curriculum as an elementary teacher is that students learn best by following their own interests. Usually in an elementary school, students do not get much of a choice on what classes they take. Throughout their education careers this option starts to become more available. In my opinion, we could start doing this younger by incorporating what the students enjoy into the lesson plans. On the administrative progressives side is bureaucracy. For example, a student can not truly understand a "larger world" experience, if they don 't have the prior knowledge and instruction about the experience. With a balance of these progressives in the school system, and specifically in my classroom, I can create the environment my students need to thrive in school. Since the very beginning of C&I 204, creating democracy in the classroom has been a heavily discussed subject. We discussed this by writing what we felt democracy in the classroom meant to us on the chalkboard during the first week of class. As we got into other subjects, such as the achievement gap, I could always relate them back to democracy in the classroom. Because this topic can connect with and solve a large number of issues, it is very important to have this type of classroom in my future career as an elementary
