The Pros And Cons Of Humans Finished With Evolution

One of the biggest concept in biology is evolution, as shown in the textbook, and it all started when Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species over 150 years ago. There are compelling evidence that individuals with favorable traits are most likely to be passed on to offsprings, and that supports the theory that modern humans have evolved over time with the shifting environments. So, are we done evolving? Or are still more for us? What is next for the human race? These are the four possible ways that humans will or will not evolve in the future.

We are Finished With Evolution This theory proposes that cross-breeding prevents humans from changing. Since evolution works best with isolated populations and controlled habitat. Natural selection allows the favorable traits to become the norms, cross-breeding in humans makes it less likely for significant mutations to become permanent in the gene pool. Natural selection is also inoperable to humans. Technical advances that we have today help even the “weakest” to survive and pass down their traits. The concept of “survival of the fittest” is inapplicable when everybody have the aids to survive.

Many refutes the first idea that “natural selection works through differential reproductive success rather than simple differential survival” and humans vary in reproductive success across populations. Environment factors are no longer the leading force in change, instead sexual selection is what will determine evolutionary change. Before, humans mate in order to pass down their traits, now, people choose their partner based on many different factors, such as intelligence and attractiveness among others. That can be considered as “favorable traits” that can be passed onto future
