In his introduction, he makes his points and structure very clear. Murphy’s article was very captivating and well stated. My feelings towards abortion are similar to those of the author. His academic background and well documented information gave credibility to his arguments. Murphy gained a greater connection to his audience by being able to break down his ideas so they could be better understood. His tone makes it evident how serious and determined he is to make his point about on the topic of spontaneous abortions. The information of spontaneous abortions was presented in an interesting way. Abortion never stood out to me as a topic worth debating. A person’s position on a sensitive subject as this is made by personal values and morals rather than articles and science. The arguments are emotionally driven at times. It was refreshing that the author was not pushing his own ideas on this topic. The views on the opposing sides are well established and give a black versus white argument. The idea that there are grey areas in each groups’ argument was also introduced by Murphy. This article does a good job of not compromising one’s view, but permitting a greater understanding of the other position. He pointed out circumstances that one might not be aware of surrounding abortion and that one should not base opinions with a lack of information and knowledge. The article helped to open my mind and brought more awareness to this
