In religion there are many themes present, some can be found within multiple religions or just one. Within the Christian religion there are several notable themes some of which they share with other religions. But the theme most would have familiarity with is the theme of sacrament. Sacrament is considered to be a religious ceremony or act that can be regarded as an outward and visible sign of inward and spiritual divine grace. Within Christianity sacrament encompasses the most used or heard about practices the rites of baptism, confirmation, the Eucharist, repentance and confession, anointing of the sick, ordination, and matrimony. As to how these things are considered sacrament the purpose of this paper is to explain a few.
First, the sacrament
Matrimony is simply marriage, something which is a common practice in, if not all, every religion I currently know. The Sacrament of matrimony fulfills the role of a sacrament based on the words of Jesus Christ it fulfills. Jesus said “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” (Matthew 19:5,6). According to Jesus by getting married two become one by way of god which can be attributed to spiritual divine

The sacrament of repentance naturally is all about a person confessing their sins before a priest. The priest, using the power bestowed upon them by god to act on his behalf, absolves the person of the sins they confessed to therefore symbolically returning them to god. Repentance has four conditions or prerequisites having guilty heart and remorse for previous sins, an intention to improve, a Strong faith in Christ and hope in His love to forgive, and the verbal confession of sins.
