Applying to college has provided me with an opportunity to reflect on my accomplishments and challenges alike, in order to choose an event or experience, as required, for application into the institution that will greatly shape my life over the next four years. I struggled picking an experience to write about, but concluded that an organization in particular has centered me beyond measure, and was surely worth writing about. At the age of seven, my mother enrolled me in Cub Scouts. My father had recently deployed to Iraq for a 15 month tour, and I was struggling to put it mildly.
