Boundaries The touchy subject of immigration can vary opinions. Some of which are negative towards the illegal entering of another country or positive. The negatives seem to outweigh the positives of this convincing issue. I’ve grown to understand the pros and cons of the effect immigration have on the United States of America. As an American citizen, I haven’t agreed on a single side to the topic. The interruption through what a true “American” is causes people to believe deportation is the universal solvent, aliens are possible terrorist threats, and there for the economic burden immigrants carry causes mixed emotions on both sides.
While Americans are raged with individuals that aren’t of their kind, they believe deporting them back to their country of origin will help. People tend to forget that we all are immigrants. According to United States Representative Lamar Smith “some of these illegal aliens are also habitual criminal. Local government law enforcement officials are faced with a massive and continual onslaught of criminal illegal aliens, they can easily become overwhelmed. If a criminal is an illegal alien, the Immigration and

According to The Federation for American Immigration Reform "Illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers about $113 billion a year at the federal, state and local level”. Illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers an average amount of $1,117. Education of the children of illegal aliens constitutes the single largest cost to taxpayers, at an annual price tag of nearly $52 billion. Meaning illegal immigrants do not put back what they suck out. In fact, they utilize America’s welfare program, health care, housing, and becoming a dependent. Immigrants also drive the wage dollar lower with employers because they agree to anything to make a means. Here in America we have legal out of work but are sure that there are twice as many illegal immigrants with
When thinking about a family member being removed from a country because that was not there place of origin, is a sickening thought. This thought crosses the minds of immigrant’s every day. Being an immigrant in the United States was supposed to be welcoming and an abundant of opportunity; now they receiver scrutiny and embarrassment from thousands of Americans, jobs are scarce, and when they do find jobs they receive low compensation. This country was fabricated from immigrants and people fleeing genocide; however, that time has changed and our borders are now closed. Taking a look in to the opposing side, there are many reasons why border control is imperative. Take into account that there
Immigration has always and will always be an essential part of America’s demographic and cultural diversity. Our country was founded on the immigration of Europeans to the New World; without them our nation would not be as advanced as it is today. Over the past three centuries, America’s immigration policies have evolved, both positively and negatively. Although we are moving forward, several episodes in our country’s immigration policy have targeted and attacked certain ethnic or cultural groups. Throughout America there is disparity regarding attitudes toward immigrants. Policies fluctuate throughout the entire country, different states, and even major cities. As the United States moves forth, it is vital that we remember how crucial immigrants
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.

Many people have come to America for a better life and to get away from all the troubles of their homeland. These immigrants, like those throughout U.S. history, are generally hard workers and make important contributions to the economy through their productive labor and purchasing power. America is considered a melting pot of many diffrent ethinic group. Immigrants should be able to enter America with little if any resistance from any border patrol. Immigrants in america take the low paying, hard labor jobs that , unfortunately, some americans don't want.
Some would say, quotes John F. Kennedy, “Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life.” Thus, in today’s society, we can say that immigrants are what made America possible—economically and socially. We are in a melting pot era where the impossible was made possible. From the time John F. Kennedy was elected in 1960, making a promise to change the national origins system to unite the nations of all countries equally. Hence, in 1965, under Lyndon Johnson’s administration, Kennedy’s promise came into light, amending the INS—favoring unification of families, not national origins. Although, the unification was made possible, the peacefulness never lasted.
The distance between the new arrivals and the natives fosters a sense of distrust on both ends. However, the concern that the growing population of immigrants will compromise America’s national identity undermines our national reality. Historically, those who have willingly immigrated to the United States have had a desire to become part of American society, crossing borders and seas t...
America is sometimes referred to as a "nation of immigrants" because of our largely open-door policy toward accepting foreigners pursuing their vision of the American Dream. Recently, there has been a clamor by some politicians and citizens toward creating a predominantly closed-door policy on immigration, arguing that immigrants "threaten" American life by creating unemployment by taking jobs from American workers, using much-needed social services, and encroaching on the "American way of life." While these arguments may seem valid to many, they are almost overwhelmingly false, and more than likely confused with the subject of illegal immigration. In fact, immigrants actually enhance American life by creating, not taking jobs, bolster social service funds through tax payments, and bring valuable technical knowledge and skills to our country. If we are to continue to excel as a nation, the traditionalists who fear an encroachment of foreign-born Americans must learn to accept that we achieved our greatness as a result of being "a nation of immigrants."
In modern times, illegal immigrants cost taxpayers billions of dollars each year. Immigrants of every kind use welfare to get by, which happens to be a main cause for the sudden rise in tax expenses. Illegal immigrants have a higher welfare use rate at 57 percent than native households in the sense of food stamps and Medicaid, but lower in the case of cash programs at just 23 percent. Because of this, restrictions on government benefits are not enforced, as they should be. Another problem is the way food stamps are handled when it comes to illegal immigrants. Companies responsible for food stamps sympathize with these people because they happen to be “vulnerable” to the plight of applying for these benefits. Food stamps are no longer seen as helping poor families receive proper nutrition because illegal immigrants have taken advantage, causing the companies to feed off of their dependency instead of those actually in need, such as poor families and the elderly. Illegal immigrants are not eligible for any assistance regarding healthcare, and therefore cannot get federal subsidies to buy health insurance or shop for coverage. However, nonprofit groups are beginning to see through this, and are offering medical care to illegal immigrants. While I firmly believe that everyone deserves medical treatment to recover from injuries or illnesses, this is another major reason as to why the cost of
A topic crucial to the world today is illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is when people live in a country without permission from the government, nor have any legal documentation. As more and more illegal immigrants enter the United States, it either upsets some people, or others feel like they should just grant them ability to pursue life, liberty, and happiness because that is what the Constitution says. Some people feel that illegal immigrants should be protected by the same rights and laws as American citizens. On the other hand, many people believe that this is a horrible mistake. They feel that the rights of citizenship should be earned and not extended to people who haven broken the law just by being in the United States.
Contrary to popular opinion, illegal immigrants do not contribute to the U.S. economy. Instead they cost more by using government provided services, taking jobs from native workers, and reducing wages by competition with native workers. Proudly a nation of immigrants the United States attracts people from all over the world because we are a nation of laws. (Demint) For centuries immigration has been indispensable to the health of our nation, as it will be for our nation’s future success. (Demint) Although this is true, immigrants should still come to our nation lawfully and not burden our nations loyal and already overburdened taxpayers more with fiscal costs. (Demint) Foreign born people residing in the United States at the time of a population survey who were not U.S. citizens at birth in 2012 were reported to be 4.2% born in Africa, 29.2% born in Asia, 11.8% born in Europe, 52.2% born in Latin America including South America, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, 2.0% born in Northern America including Canada, Bermuda, Greenland, St. Pierre, and Miquelon. (Migration) The top three countries from which illegal immigrants were reported to have been originally born in are Mexico, India, and China. (Migration) With illegal immigration becoming more common by the years you can only imagine how much those numbers have increased. Having illegal immigrants in the U.S. and how to deal with the productive and government fee-conflicting immigrants can cause much controversy on whether they hurt or help our economy. Pardoning the offense against our government to those who break the law and putting them on a path to become citizens of our law-based nation would be unfair; also it would just impose more unacceptable behavior and major...

While immigration for our country is good, the ability to become a legal citizen has become insanely hard, therefore leading immigrants to illegally cross our border, which negatively impacts our country.
