Climate change has damaged the planet beyond repair. It is too late to save it from complete destruction. To what extend do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer by outlining the evidence for/against. Before the ‘Industrial Revolution’, humans mainly focused on agriculture or fishing, which produced little amount of pollution. Then, from the invention of machines, people started to rely on them because of their convenience and productivity. Although the usage of machines leads to the rapid development on economy, it has been causing serious consequences to environment by producing more pollution. Damages have been obviously done to environment by human activities. However, this situation can be changed, despite the damage done by human activities to the Earth, it is not too late to repair it as countries start to cooperate and establish …show more content…
Some people claim that there have been produced large amount of greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere. It is already too late to save the planet as the extreme weathers like heat waves, extreme rainfalls and droughts, have already appealed currently. Also, there is a fact that ‘Extreme hot days in Australia are getting hotter, with the rate of very hot (greater than 40°C) daytime temperatures increasing since the 1990s.’ (Healey, 2014) Also, the global warming speeds up the ice melting. In Arctic, the ice coverage in September 2007 is less than 80%of what it was in 1970s and the wintertime ice extent is sharking by 4% per decades. (Henson and Clark, 2006) ‘As the snow and ice melt, they become less reflective and retain more heat because the darker surface reflects less
In our modern, technological world, the standard of living has far surpassed anything our world has experienced in the past, and while the increase in this characteristic has led many countries to thrive in the 21th century, it has also created dramatic consequences for the world that have not been brought to light. One of the most prominent consequences of the transformation into the Modern Age is the presence of global warming, the rise in average temperatures throughout the year for the entire globe. But, you may ask, isn’t global warming something that the world has known about for a long time? What do you mean when you say it hasn’t been brought to light? The overarching theme of global warming consists of many different factors that ultimately lead to the heating of the
For a significant number of years it has been evident that global temperatures were rising and that human activity is a major contributing factor to this rise. The rise in temperature is not only heating the planet but having an adverse effect on the global climate.
It’s been said by many and thought by others, countless times before. “It’s not that bad. The media and these environmentally obsessive individuals are over exaggerating the negative global climate change impacts”. After all the planets warming has potential to produce positive outcomes as well. It has even been argued that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant; rather it is an essential component for photosynthesis, a process that indirectly supports human life deeming the greenhouse effect as normal. Furthermore the warming of the planet would result in less harsh and cold winters; in turn this would mean fewer deaths, predominantly among vulnerable groups such as the elderly. Environmentally this could potentially produce greener rainforests and enhanced plant growth in the Amazon, increased vegetation in northern
The effects of climate are felt throughout the world, all living things are affected with it. The effects of climate change are affecting directly the human life. It has been noticed that around the globe, seasons are shifting, temperatures are climbing and sea levels are rising. The world compares to century ago, it has changed drastically and it is becoming worse with climate change. Climate change will rapidly alter the lands and waters which we all depends upon for survival which will leave our children thus the future generation with a different world. In the time to come if not much is done for the case of climate change, There will be shortage of food and drinks, many new illnesses and diseases and some part of the world will become in appropriate for living things to live due to natural disaster. It can be that with the rapid Global warming and climate change, one-fourth of Earth’s species could be headed for extinction by the year 2050.
There are many things that can impact the economy, but many people would not think that global warming has much of an effect on it. Global warming is continuing to become a very large concern for people across the world. This topic is very controversial due to the fact that many people fail to believe that global warming even exists. In this case, it will often be looked at as climate changes instead.
Flooding is an extreme climatic event that generates devastation and economic losses all around the world. The extreme climatic events are increasing more severe and frequent due to the climate change. The climate change is a global scale, the mean annual surface temperature has increased over the past century by 0.6°C (IPCC, 2007).Climate models and theoretical arguments further indicate that extreme precipitation events will continue to increase with rises in greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations (Min et al., 2011). Climate change will have significant impacts on precipitation patterns, overall increase in annual average temperature, increase precipitation of frequency, magnitude, precipitation amounts, severe events and flooding risk. The frequency, magnitude and severity of flooding are also increasing in many parts of the world associated with climate change, population pressure and urbanization (Hirabayashi et al., 2013., Jongman et al., 2014). These increases in the frequency and severity of extreme precipitation, impact of climate change associated damages and losses from flooding, is also likely to increase in the 21st century and beyond (Allamano et al., 2009; Pallet al., 2011).
Since the start of the Industrial Revolution, we have been using fossil fuels to power our lives, and factories. Little did we know that our miracle energy producer was destroying our planet. The burning of fossil fuels produces a byproduct called carbon dioxide. This natural occurring gas does not harm the planet in any way when released in small quantities, but at the rate we have released it, there is nowhere for it to go so it becomes trapped in the atmosphere. When the gas becomes trapped in the atmosphere, it creates a “Green House” effect. This effect causes the surface temperature to rise, which has adverse effects on the planet. A number of bills to regulate carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere have been proposed and even accepted,
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report shows that that climate change has a direct impact on agriculture, livestock and fishing that lead to affect local and the global food security (Bals et al., 2008). Projected impact of climate change directly pertaining to agriculture include extended droughts and the loss of soil fertility as result of increased precipitation. This state of affairs led to the making of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000, having the first goal to “Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger” with a target to halve the proportion of people who suffer from hunger. However, projections of a rapidly growing population, coupled with global climate change, is expected

Every day when looking out a window, people see a beautiful earth. The earth is intriguing, but hinges on a delicate balance. Many natural resources keep the grass green and the sky blue. Man has made quite an impression on our world, and has transformed the earth's resources into tools to make life easy. However, mans' manipulation on earth has become detrimental to the health of our planet and the safety of mankind. Through the use and production of resources such as oil and energy, man is gradually poisoning the earth. Pollution has become such a dilemma in society; there is no real control or a feasible solution to society's recklessness. Without complete change, our system will collapse. The earth will eventually retaliate with disaster, or corporate control of our economy will cause hysteria and depression. Evaluation of the consequences and repercussion of worldwide pollution, may give people a better idea of what the future holds.
In conclusion, global warming is the result of many years of human negligence; and the rising rates of greenhouse gasses being emitted into the ozone layer. But, there is still hope to stop the chain of effects caused by global warming from occurring. Some steps that would move the world in the right direction is to plant more trees, to increase oxygen production and regulate factories to help stop some of the air pollutions. We have but one world so let’s take care of it and prevent the disastrous
What will happen to planet Earth as years pass by? The world will eventually fall apart as the years go by because of many natural and manmade causes. One of the most impactful causes to the Earth’s eventual downfall is climate change. Climate change is a long term change in the weather that affects many parts of the Earth such as the arctic, extinction of animals and more terrible acts. Climate Change will affect the Earth negatively due to its causes of natural disasters, health effects to humans, and global warming.
The Effects of Global Warming on Our Planet Global warming, professionally also called the climate change represents nowadays a critical global issue posing a serious potential threat. This simply means that the average temperature of our planet is slowly rising. This however is not due to the natural causes as it was in the past but due to people and their activities, which permit the so-called greenhouse gases to be emitted into the atmosphere. This has already taken its toll in terms of altering the weather and subsequently the conditions of the whole planet and might also have consequences for the future.
Throughout the years, climate change has become a topic that people are getting more concerned about as the years go by. Climate change has an effect on the temperature around the world which cause nature to change drastically. Cars, airplanes, coal and other man-made things are considered to enemies to climate change. Although it is a theory, other people think that climate change is something that is occurring naturally by nature. Mankind has been accused of causing different amounts of damage to the world in different ways. Humans ca/ sxsxxxxxxxxxxxssx;2nnot predict what nature has planned for us so we cannot jump to conclusions on the way nature works. Climate change could be affected by something on earth or may not, but it is yet to be
Climate change is among the significant threat that’s slowly facing the world today. Research done by American meteorological department states that temperature might rise by 3.5 to 7.4 degrees in the next hundred years. It is also evident that the catastrophic effect will majorly be felt within the poles and land. Climate change is a long-term shift in weather conditions identified by changes in temperature, precipitation, winds, and other indicators. Climate change can involve both changes in average conditions and changes in variability, including, for example, extreme events.
