The criminal justice system inside the United States of America is the best in the world, just ask the theft in India, or the child molester in Iran, they would would tell you so. However, some would say that the system is broke, in fact, the system is not just at all, moreover the system is unjust. Our forefathers, laid the foundation through our “Bill of Rights”, however, the system is a living, breathing entity, furthermore, the culture in our society is ever changing, thereby, effecting the criminal justice system. Thus, there are four types of correctional facilities, lock up, jail and detention center, prison, and of course parole. Society, has demanded this type of correctional facilities, therefore, they deserve the end product.

The prison system is designed to receive offenders sentenced to more than one year, to include life sentences and death sentences, furthermore, this is where the concept of parole is introduced to released offenders. By the time many of these offenders have made their way to the prison system they have committed several offenses, furthermore, they have escalated to crimes of violence. The most complex struggle that the prison system deals with, is the recidivism of these offenders, thus, many of these violent offenders will reoffend and will end back in prison. However, the prison system has tackled this problem head on, providing numerous programs within the prison system, such as, educational, drug, anger management, job trade, family services, and many more. However, there is no concrete evidence that these programs are successful, or for that matter, worth the enormous amount of money that is spent. Although, there are advocates that will tell you, if the system only reaches 10% of the offenders, and 90% of the offenders return to prison, that is a winning
