Technology today Technology today is becoming very dominate in today’s world. Anywhere someone goes, besides the wilderness, they will most likely be surrounded by some sorts of technology in their lives. Hospitals, cars, homes, department stores, grocery stores, etc. are filled with technology. People are becoming so dependent on technology that some feel lost or helpless without technology in their lives at every second. This is an example of television and cell phones. A person can think their life is at an absolute end without their cell phone either right next to them or in their hands. Technology has a high effect on children and young adult’s socialization process. Technology, mass media, internet, cell phones, computers, etc. have become so dependent on some lives, if all these things were taken away from some of the children and young adults they wouldn’t know what to do with their lives. Children and young adults already dependent on mass media, cell phones, computers, internet wouldn’t know how to keep themselves entertained or how to communicate with one another if all these gadgets suddenly failed on them and had no way to fix them. All these special gifts we have in our lives are not seen as special or a gift any longer, because they have become the norm. Over half of the United States uses or has a cell phone, internet, television, or connected to mass media. Without some form of radio, television, computer, cell phone, iPad, or internet people would not know how to get a hold of one another, what’s going on in the world, or the latest news or trends. According to Storify a website called ‘Socialization’ states, “Mass media also has an immense impact on young minds. With the advent of the internet, television now a partner in the role of visual stimulant of young minds. The culture portrayed by the mass media emphasizes glamour, sexual satisfaction and promiscuity, comedic vulgarity, violence, and immediate gratification of needs”
