The article “Life is precious or it’s not” by Barbara Kingsolver is a passage about violence and how children are being influenced by the behaviors of adults on choosing violence as a solution to everything. Barbara Kingsolver emphasizes the word “senseless” towards the tragedy that occurred at Columbine High school, because she and I believe that actions like going into a school and shooting at innocent people have a reason. No human will ever just bomb and shoot at other humans for no reason. In addition, the article talks about how the most influential men such as the president and most watched characters in movies use violence to solve problems by killing and imposing killing as a tool for power. The government and society should reconsider their actions and behaviors and focus, if possible to reduce the violence being used and discuss or teach more about morals in schools. To begin, this powerful essay focuses everything on violence and how it is being used by games, movies, and even the most influential people such as the president. There has been many projects done to stop shootings but I believe that there should be more laws and education to stop the violence used and shown as an exalted tool. The reason being, is because in my opinion children especially middle schoolers and under are very influential and should not be exposed to guns and weapons as a toy or game because it will introduce new ideas into their vulnerable minds.
