After review of my skills, interests, and experiences, I decided to pursue the medical career field as my first career choice, more specifically as a physician assistant. I will exceed in this position in the interest of that I like to help people and I solve problems well. Also, I communicate well with others and I have a great amount of patience. There are various careers that fit my skills and interests, but this one grabs my attention. My dream job is to be a doctor, but this occupation allows one to save money by lessening the years of school required. Also, the pay isn’t too shabby either. I will be successful in this position due to my skills, characteristics, and values, like honesty and helping others. Up to this point, I have job shadowed at a medical billing company and I like the idea of diagnosing and helping people, but a desk job is not ideal. The idea of taking care of someone and providing assistance to a complete stranger is something not many people do. Seeing people at their worst, during a difficult, challenging and frightening moment of their life is not a job many people would take. However, being there for a person at their time of need is what captivates me the most. Nursing, a career I want to pursue and one that is on my to-do list. Anesthesia is used in almost every single surgery. It is a numbing medicine that numbs the nerves and makes the body go unconscious. You can’t feel anything or move while under the sedative and are often delusional after being taken off of the anesthetic. Believe it or not, about roughly two hundred years ago doctors didn’t use anesthesia during surgery. It was rarely ever practiced. Patients could feel everything and were physically held down while being operated on. 2It wasn’t until 1846 that a dentist first used an anesthetic on a patient going into surgery and the practice spread and became popular (Anesthesia). To this day, advancements are still being made in anesthesiology. 7The more scientists learn about molecules and anesthetic side effects, the better ability to design agents that are more targeted, more effective and safer, with fewer side effects for the patients (Anesthesia). Technological advancements will make it easier to read vital life signs in a person and help better decide the specific dosages a person needs.
Short term, I want to work in a medical facility, preferably a hospital or small clinic, in an administrative and/or clerical position. I would like to do this to gain experience on my resume since I have never worked in a medical field job before. After about five years, I will have my bachelor’s degree and want to be a department head in the hospital or managing a small medical office. My long term goal, after I go on to get my Master’s in Healthcare Administration, would be to open a small donation only clinic available to working parents who can’t afford healthcare insurance for their children. They are able to see a doctor for a short clinical visit for a suggested donation of something like twenty dollars. The staff would be made up of college interns who are in the pediatric or in another medical practicing major with a licensed medical doctor present overseeing the visit. This will help low income working parents to receive care for their child at an affordable rate. However, I know this would be difficult with Obamacare and its laws so hopefully by then, we will be rid of Obamacare. Another long term goal of mine is to manage a hospital or a public health facility. If I am unable to open my own business, I would like to oversee an entire hospital or manage public healthcare in the community I live. Either way, I would be impacting many lives and also be very beneficial to the community in several ways.

In order for the patients to be able to get into surgery and deal with the agonizing aches after the abscission, anesthesiologists have to give the sufferer the proper treatment before and after the surgery. Overall, anesthesiologists must be highly educated in both medicine and communication, they need to be able to give the patient the right amount of medicine as well as speak with the family of patients and other doctors to inform them all with what will be done during the surgery, and they need to be able to properly assist the surgeons during operations.
