I am proud to recommend the nomination of Stephanie Brown for the UCLA Award for Alumni Volunteer of the Year. Stephanie has a long history of dedication and commitment to UCLA and the Bruin community. She recognizes the impact UCLA has had on her life and she has been generous in "giving back". Stephanie has been an active volunteer with Bay Area Bruins since the early 90's and I have had the pleasure of knowing her in that role. She has not allowed the physical distance that separates her from UCLA to limit her engagement. Over the years Stephanie has served the Alumni Association in many roles, chairing district, regional and state committees for the Freshman Scholarship Program, district chair of the Community College Program, president of the Bay Area Bruins, and Alumni Association Board Member. Stephanie has consistently and substantially demonstrated an ability and willingness to work positively, respectfully, and effectively with others in a way that fosters collaboration, communication, and cooperation among colleagues and members of the Bruin community. She recognizes alumni engagement as the cornerstone of the organization's mission statement, and supports the planning of numerous events, attracting hundreds of alumni and friends to attend sports, social and professional networking events. Stephanie implemented Regional Vice-President(VP) teams so responsibilities can be shared, and there will be smoother transitions when alumni resign their positions. She encourages these VP teams to build out more events in underserved regions and to develop more diverse events everywhere that are not sports related to help Bay Area Bruins grow and engage more
