They use all these different areas and then make a judgment on how psychological factors are affecting and how they can affect performance, also how participation in sport and exercise affect not only psychological factors but also physical factors.

All these athletes are from a variety of sports but all have short tempers which can then affect their individual performances. These 3 Athletes would all benefit from sports psychology because they all need to focus on their goals rather than who is annoying them and setting off their short fuse. Certain mental strategies, such as visualization, self-talk and relaxation techniques would greatly help these athletes overcome the obstacles the face and achieve to their full potential while staying calm in the process.
To back up some of these claims Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) has seen sports psychologist in the past and his performance then improved greatly which was noticed by everyone, he credited his performance enhancements to working with a sports

Strategies and methods that would of helped Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) in his path to success would first be setting goals for both his mental and physical skills from here he could start to develop into the athlete he wanted to be, these goals have to be specific and measurable. A long-term, comprehensive vision of the type of player he wanted to become, this helped Ron develop further. He then worked on his own strategies and patterns and how to master them and use them as a weapon in a positive manner. Then when it can to game day he learnt what kind of emotional/psychological approach he would take to the game and how he could be psychologically prepared, this new approach changed his game majorly. Along with stress management, imagery and visualisation, concentration, attention control and motivation strategies and methods are how Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) got his athletic performance back on

There are many integral members that contribute to the success of a sports medicine team that each have different responsibilities but as a whole work fluently together. Our sports medicine team is comprised of five different personnel with all varying qualifications and education level. This paper is going to show that the mind in an athlete has a lot to do with the result of the particular event. In order to show that anxiety in athletes is a significant problem this paper is going to be set up in three different areas in order to explain exactly how anxiety affects the athlete. The first section of the paper is going to explain the history and terminology on the study of anxiety in athletes. Arousal in sport can be defined as the degree of activation (both physiological and psychological) that an individual experiences when faced with a sporting situation or task. It can be viewed as a continuum ranging from drowsiness/sleep to a psyched-up, hyperactive state. Moderating arousal levels can help to control stress and anxiety (Study.com, 2017). Arousal levels affect performance negatively and positively. The Inverted U model shows the relationship between performance and arousal. This model is specific to the individual, and specific to the task (The Arousal Theory of Motivation, 2017) Ideal performance state or ‘the zone’. Arousal affects performance due to, muscle tension and coordination difficulties with excessive arousal.
Competitive sports became a very high-tech and cutting-edge field. This happens in elite athletes and also in their young talented counterparts. A lot of records, podium, final, and semi-final spots are granted or lost because of “details.” Hence, athletes and coaches are supported by sport scientists that analyze any major or minor technique detail with the aim of helping the athlete to excel. The same reasoning can be used for clinicians (e.g., sports medicine, rehabilitation, physiotherapy). Diagnosis and prescription are evidence-based practices supported on cutting-edge procedures.
A lot of times, sports seem like a contest of physical skill― a test to see who is the fastest or strongest, who has the best eye or the most endurance, who can jump the highest or can handle the ball the best. What a lot of people don’t know is that there is so much more to a sport than just the muscle and coordination. In order to excel in a sport, an athlete requires a lot of self-discipline, concentration, and self-confidence. It’s the mental factor that makes a difference. Former Olympic gold medal-winning decathlon runner Bruce Jenner once said, “You have to train your mind like you train your body” (Gregoire 1). Success or failure depends on the mental factors just as much as the physical ones. The training of the mind of an athlete is called sports psychology. The use of sports psychology has a huge impact upon an athlete’s performance. The mental skills of a sport are just as important as the physical skills. All professional athletes use sports psychology. “If they aren’t currently using it, it’s almost guaranteed they’ve used it in the past, even if they are unaware they have” (Davis, Stephens, The Exploratorium 129). It’s hard to find an experienced athlete who hasn’t used sports psychology, because without it, they probably wouldn’t be where they are. The use of sports psychology is a crucial step to becoming a successful athlete.
Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
