Differences Between Sports Modern day and The Shakespearean Era Life was filled with poverty, labor, and disease in the Shakespearean era. Sports offered a nice break from this and the daily routine. Modern day sports are related and in light of politics, grants, coordination, and pay rates. Both generations of sports have one thing in common, and that’s the desire to win. As time passed the passion and love of Sports is not how it used to be. Nowadays, most athletes perform for the money and fame. In the Shakespearean era versus modern day, sports have evolved. Different games are being played such as, football, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc. Back then in the Shakespearean era sports like, Rounders, Skittles, and Stoolball. Notice those sports do not sound familiar but are an ancestor to today’s sports. For example, ‘Rounders’ is a bat-and-ball game similar to the modern day baseball. Games nowadays have more amplified rules, and it’s more structured. Back then, it was kind of like “anything thing goes” type of mindset the athletes had. Likewise, men were the main ones who played games. Ladies did not have much opportunity to play, as they didn't have the same number of rights in Shakespearean times as they did later
